- A study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of T1 vs T2 weighted MRI imaging in measuring total kidney volume (TKV) in patients with Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) to predict disease progression.
- Both T1 and T2 imaging showed comparable levels of measurement accuracy and consistency, but T2 scanning provided slightly better image quality and lower variability in results.
- Although T1 and T2 measurements of kidney growth rates were clinically similar, T2 imaging performed better in terms of quality and reliability, indicating it may be a preferred method in clinical settings for assessing kidney volume.
