Objective: to identify and analyze factors associated with plasma creatine phosphokinase (CPK) levels in trauma victims with progression to rhabdomyolysis.
Methods: we conducted a prospective, longitudinal study, with 50 patients submitted to the "Red Wave" protocol, with evolution to rhabdomyolysis after hospital admission. We studied the variables age, gender, trauma scores, mechanism and outcome, CPK at admission and final, intervals of days between laboratory evaluations, surgery and complications.
Objective:: to analyze the factors associated with death in patients with diaphragmatic injury treated at a trauma reference hospital.
Methods:: we conducted a retrospective study of patients with diaphragm injury attended at the Risoleta Tolentino Neves Hospital of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, between January 2010 and December 2014. We used The Collector® database of trauma records (MD, USA).
Objective: to investigate the effect of standardized interventions in the management of tube thoracostomy patients and to assess the independent effect of each intervention.
Methods: A chest tube management protocol was assessed in a retrospective cohort study. The tube thoracostomy protocol (TTP) was implemented in August 2012, and consisted of: antimicrobial prophylaxis, chest tube insertion in the operating room (OR), admission post chest tube thoracostomy (CTT) in a hospital floor separate from the emergency department (ED), and daily respiratory therapy (RT) sessions post-CTT.
Objective: to analyze the associated factors with empyema in patients with post-traumatic retained hemothorax.
