Ultrasound-Guided Approach to the Distal Tarsal Tunnel: Implications for Healthcare Research on the Medial Plantar Nerve, Lateral Plantar Nerve and Inferior Calcaneal Nerve (Baxter's Nerve).

Background/objectives: The tibial nerve, commonly misnamed the "posterior tibial nerve", branches into four key nerves: the medial plantar, lateral plantar, inferior calcaneal (Baxter's nerve), and medial calcaneal branches. These nerves are integral to both the sensory and motor functions of the foot. Approximately 15% of adults with foot issues experience heel pain, frequently stemming from neural origins, such as tarsal tunnel syndrome (TTS).

Novel ultrasound-guided supraclavicular stellate ganglion block.

Usefulness of ultrasound-guided serratus-anterior block in prevention of postoperative pain after breast surgery. A cohort study.

Objective: To evaluate superficial serratus anterior plane block's efficacy and side effects in preventing postoperative pain after breast cancer surgery.

Methodology: A prospective cohort study was conducted on 195 adult patients undergoing breast oncological surgery under general anesthesia (Group G, n = 96) or combined general anesthesia with superficial serratus anterior plane block (Group L, n = 99). Validated preoperative data, which are predictors of chronic postoperative pain of patients, were recorded (type of surgery, age, pain in the area of the intervention and the other regions; anesthetic-surgical data, analgesic doses used, duration of surgery; pain intensity (EVN scale) at immediate postoperative period, 24 h, seven days and one month after the surgery, and complications.

Phenolysis for Advanced Shoulder Osteoarthritis: A Case Series of a Novel Ultrasound-Guided Approach to Anterior and Posterior Glenohumeral Articular Nerve Branches.

A Novel Two-Step Ultrasound-Guided Technique for Anesthesia and Postsurgery Analgesia in Gluteal Augmentation Surgery.

In recent years, there has been an increase in demand for gluteal augmentation and reshaping surgeries with intramuscular implants which are becoming increasingly popular. Until now, this surgery was mainly performed under general anesthesia, but recently locoregional anesthesia techniques, such as tumescent local anesthesia, are being applied more and more. Today, the use of ultrasound for locoregional anesthesia and analgesia allows us to perform techniques that are increasingly precise and burdened with lower risks.

Infraspinatus Fascial Dysfunction as a Cause of Painful Anterior Shoulder Snapping: Its Visualization via Dynamic Ultrasound and Its Resolution via Diagnostic Ultrasound-Guided Injection.

This report presents the first case of painful anterior shoulder snapping due to a thickened, fibrotic bursa snapping between the subscapularis and the short head of the bicep during external and internal rotation of the humerus. A 46-year-old presented with a 10-month history of on-and-off anterolateral right shoulder pain and snapping. Direct treatment to the anterior suspected lesions partially and temporarily relieved the pain but did not reduce the snapping.

Cost Analysis of Low-Volume Versus Standard-Volume Ultrasound-Guided Interscalene Brachial Plexus Block in Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery.

A novel infrapatellar approach of ultrasound-guided intra-articular injection of the knee from both lateral and medial side: a case series.

Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is common. Ultrasound-guided intra-articular injection (UGIAI) using the superolateral approach is currently the gold standard for treating knee OA, but it is not 100% accurate, especially in patients with no knee effusion. Herein, we present a case series of chronic knee OA treated with a novel infrapatellar approach to UGIAI.

The Booster Effect of a Single Quarterly Dose of Hyaluronic Acid in Knee Osteoarthritis: Five-Year Results of a Registry-Based Study.

Prospective Observational Study after Eversion Carotid Endarterectomy with Ultrasound-Guided Deep-Intermediate Cervical Plexus Blockade.

(1) Introduction: The aim was to describe the anesthetic and surgical technique of eversion carotid endarterectomy performed under intermediate-deep cervical block with sedation, and to analyze the intraoperative and postoperative results. (2) Material and Methods: Thirty cases of unilateral eversion carotid endarterectomy (n = 30), performed between 2019-2020 in a tertiary center under intermediate-deep ultrasound-guided cervical plexus block and sedation, were prospectively observed and analyzed. Hemodynamic (blood pressure, heart rate) and neurological (cerebral oximetry) variables were measured in four intraoperative phases: at the beginning of the operation, prior to carotid clamping, after unclamping and at the end of the operation.

Postoperative Analgesia and Palliative Care of Peng Block for Terminal Osteosarcoma.

Palliative care involves patients with a high incidence of chronic pain and inadequate treatment related to opioid abuse. In terminal patients, the side effects of opioids may result in lower quality of life due to their deleterious immunosuppression and gastrointestinal effects. In our routine clinical practice, we consider the ultrasound-guided PENG block as a palliative analgesic technique to improve end-of-life care to terminal patients.

Beyond the Pericapsular Nerve Group (PENG) Block: A Narrative Review.

The pericapsular nerve group block shows promising results in providing pain relief with a potential motor-sparing effect in hip fracture patients. In this narrative review, we analyze the published articles, and we describe the structures achieved when performing the block. We conducted a literature search to identify the articles performing the pericapsular nerve group block, in the adult or paediatric population, from November 1, 2018, to May 15, 2021.

Indications and Future Perspectives of a Minimally Invasive Ultrasound-guided Double-needle Joint Lavage.

Arthroscopic joint lavage was proposed as a treatment option for different joint conditions such as septic or inflammatory arthritis. Ultrasound (US) is today considered a fundamental tool in musculoskeletal diseases as for diagnostic and guide for interventional procedures such as synovial fluid sampling and drug injections.
