Glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) are progressive retinal diseases characterized by increased oxidative stress, inflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction. This review investigates the potential therapeutic benefits of NAD+ and niacin supplementation in managing glaucoma and AMD. A literature search was conducted encompassing keywords such as "niacin", "NAD", "glaucoma", "AMD", and "therapeutics".

Late Outcome of a Left-Atrial-to-Coronary-Sinus Shunt.

Frail patients with severe calcific mitral stenosis have few treatment options. We present a novel case successfully treated with a left-atrial-to-coronary-sinus shunt. However, the patient's symptoms returned, and, at surgery, the shunt was found to be occluded and associated with left atrial and ventricular fibrosis and calcification.

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) during sports events has a dramatic impact on stadium-goers and the public and is often associated with poor outcomes unless treated with an automated external defibrillator (AED). Despite this, stadiums vary in AED use. This review aims to identify the risks and incidences of SCA, and the use of AEDs in soccer and basketball stadiums.
