The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to investigate leg muscle power and compare two activities (jumping and cycling) in 383 girls and 407 boys ages 9-19 years. Results in anthropometric characteristics and jumping performance were comparable until midadolescence, and sex differences were observed. Lean leg volume (LLV) was the reason for most of the variance (76% in girls and 88% in boys) in jumping performance.

The present study was designed to investigate the heart rate-running speed (HR-RS) relationship while exercising continuously, at high intensities, on a treadmill. The purpose was to precisely measure the magnitude of drop in RS necessary to maintain HR during intense exhaustive exercises, and to determine whether the magnitude of drop in RS is directly dependent on exercise intensity. The aim of the present study was to compare physiological data obtained during cycling using a noncircular "Harmonic" chainring versus a standard circular chainring over a range of speeds and slopes in endurance-trained cyclists. Thirteen male subnational cyclists (16-45 years) performed two maximal graded exercises on their own bicycle: one with a circular chainring, the other with a Harmonic chainring with the same gearwheel (52 teeth).
