In Romania, the incidence of malignant melanocytic tumors is continuously increasing. According to the World Health Organization, the incidence of melanocytic and non-melanocytic skin neoplasms has increased considerably and globally, in the last decade. We present the case of a 49-year-old patient who, over the course of 7 years, came in the Plastic Surgery Clinic of the Emergency County Hospital of Craiova for the excision of a number of 25 skin tumor formations, located on the face, cervical region, trunk and upper limbs.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common skin cancer in the fair-skinned adult population over 50 years of age and the incidence is rising. Generally, BCC has an indolent course, low mortality and a good prognosis due to low rates of metastasis. Giant basal cell carcinoma is a rare reported oncological entity which accounts for 0.

Tissue healing is a complex, dynamic process, characterized by the replacement of devitalized and absent cell and tissue structures. This can be obtained by different methods, these being found in the "reconstructive scale", which although it is very rich does not offer a universally valid solution for closing skin wounds. In plastic surgery, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has proven effective in the treatment of skin graft donor areas, burn wounds, skin grafts, tendons, or varicose ulcers.

ATL is a rare but a highly aggressive T-cell neoplasm associated with human T-cell leukemia virus-1 (HTLV-1) infection. Human T-cell lymphotropic virus type-1 (HTLV-1) is a oncogenic retrovirus responsible for the development of adult T-cell leukemia (ATL), but also for other non-malignant diseases, such as HTLV-1-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP). HTLV-1 has a higher prevalence in Japan, the Caribbean, South America, intertropical Africa, Romania, and northern Iran.

Tissue healing is a complex process of replacing damaged tissue structures, being a dynamic process with spatial and temporal involvement. In practice, there are three types of healing: primary, secondary and tertiary. Since even tertiary healing can cause different problems depending on the individual patient, the medical world has always strived for new, easier, more effective, faster, and low cost-effective methods to cover skin wounds.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common skin cancer. We conducted a retrospective study over a period of two years (2018-2019), on 214 patients from the Plastic Surgery clinic in order to identify the clinical and histopathological aspects of the disease: the case distribution according to sex, living environment, age, histopathological subtype, location. Results.

Observing the positive effects of PRP (platelet-rich plasma) used in various pathologies, both in traumatology, orthopedics, sports medicine, and in plastic and reconstructive surgery, we decided to develop an improved product, using granular hyaluronic acid. The paper aims at establishing a protocol for obtaining PRP enriched with hyaluronic acid, which can be used in the current practice of treatment of skin defects, safely, with minimal side effects and limited possible, but to provide a shorter healing period as compared to native, "free" healing. The experiment aims to find an effective and rapid method of healing wounds with skin defects, by using a local adjuvant (PRP enriched with hyaluronic acid), which is available to any plastic surgeon.

Interleukin 6 (IL-6), a cytokine produced by various cells of the human body (macrophages, lymphocytes, astrocytes, ischemic myocytes, endothelial cells) has both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory properties, being a key component in regulating various physiologic and pathological processes. The structure of this molecule and the receptor system it possesses are important due to the different activities that IL-6 can exert; through trans-signaling pro-inflammatory activities are mediated, while through classic signaling, IL-6 is responsible for anti-inflammatory and regenerative activities. IL-6 signaling is involved in coronary artery disease and the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Background And Aims: This study aims to identify the extent to which Burnout syndrome is present among medical staff in the anaesthesia and intensive care units in Romania and if there are significant differences dependant on age or sex.

Methods: Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), structured in three dimensions: Emotional Exhaustion - 9 items (EE), Depersonalization - 6 items (D) and Reduction of personal achievement - 10 items (RPA), was used for the evaluation of Burnout Syndrome in 275 medical staff in anaesthesia and intensive care physician and nurses from departments in Romania.

Results: Burnout syndrome among medical staff with MBI had a total score of 68 and average scores for all syndrome categories.

Introduction: Crohn's disease is a chronic idiopathic medical and surgical disease, in which the transmural intestinal inflammatory process frequently leads to complications such as strictures or fistulae. The disease is considered to be the result of an imbalance between the proinflammatory mediators and the anti-inflammatory ones; it can be localized on any segment of the gastrointestinal tract, but it especially affects the terminal ileum. The purpose of the study is to assess Crohn's disease from the point of view of the complications requiring surgical treatment, the manner in which they are solved, as well as the postoperative evolution.

Features of gully morphometry and associated relief characteristics emphasize that gully develop under a wide variety of rock conditions, rainfall regimes, geomorphic predisposition, and human influence. Consequently, many slopes within piedmont areas, in this case, the Getic Piedmont, are characterized by dense gully systems, as there occur excessive clearing, inappropriate land use, compaction of the soil caused by grazing, on the general background of a favourable climate. Both rainfall and runoff factors must be considered in assessing a water erosion problem.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a neoplastic disease with a continuously growing incidence in Romania and throughout the world. Although the surgery remains the first line treatment for most of the cases, newly discovered targeted molecular therapies - effective for some patients, but with various side effects and significant financial burden for the national health systems - requires not only stratification of patients in prognostic groups but also evaluation of some non-anatomic factors with major impact on the prognosis and therapeutic strategy. The AJCC/UICC TNM staging system, in his 7th revision, effective for cases diagnosed on or after January 1, 2010, responds to these needs.

The study of the familial psychopathology in relatives of restrictive anorexia nervosa (AN) probands whose diagnosis was verified during a long-term follow-up was aimed at determining behavioural phenotypes with which AN could share the genetic liability. A total of 185 first degree relatives of 68 restrictive AN patients with adolescent onset followed up for 5 to 18 years and 198 first degree relatives of 68 normal women were investigated. DSM-III-R criteria were used.

Gene identification in common disorders such as Alzheimer disease and breast cancer has greatly profited from the use of age of onset as criterion to delineate subgroups of disease characterized by different inheritance patterns. In bipolar affective disorder, where the majority of linkage studies have produced conflicting results, studies reporting clinical characteristics and familial occurrence of disease have suggested that age of onset might serve as an indicator for identifying more homogeneous subgroups of disease. Our study was the first to examine this hypothesis by the means of segregation analysis.

Two recent studies [McMahon et al., 1995: Am J Hum Genet 56:1277-1286; Gershon et al., 1996: Am J Med Genet (Neuropsychiatr Genet) 67:202-207] reported an excess of maternal transmission in bipolar affective disorder in multiply affected families.

The phenotypic indicators of the genomic imprinting model were applied to clinical psychopathology data on 100 bipolar (BP) I probands and their families. The paternal transmission was associated with a significantly younger age of onset of the BP illness in probands and a higher rate of affective disorders in first- and second-degree relatives. The effect of the sex of the transmitting parent on age of onset in probands decreased but remained significant when controlling for the effect of the probands' age at investigation.

Ninety-six children aged 10-17 of unipolar endogenous depressive proband parents and 96 matched control children of well parents were investigated using DSM-IIIR diagnostic criteria. Both sets of parents were also studied. Although the rate of psychopathology was significantly higher in proband than in control children, adaptive functioning as a measure of the severity of the psychopathology did not differentiate the two groups of children.

Seventy two children aged 10-17 of 42 endogenous unipolar depressive parents (proband children) and 72 children aged 10-17 of 66 normal parental couples (control children) were studied. Overall rate of psychopathology (disorders present at the time of investigation and one year before) reached 51% in proband children and 29% in control children. Depressive disorder rate reached 10% in proband children and 4% in control children.

Seventy-two proband children aged 10-17 of bipolar parents, matched with 72 control children of normal parents, were investigated using DSM-III diagnostic criteria and multiple sources of information. The psychopathology rate in children (61% in probands versus 25% in controls) was related to the impact of psychic disorders on the children's adaptive functioning. The effect of several variables describing the psychiatric status of both parents and familial environment on the severity of psychopathology in children was analysed.
