Purpose: Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) can cause a wide range of neurological complications, including meningoencephalitis, upon reactivation. The objective of this report is to alert physicians of the possibility of VZV recurrence with meningoencephalitis occurring during hospitalization in an intensive care unit (ICU) setting.
Material And Methods: Clinical observation of one patient.
This case study aimed at monitoring ictal vasodilation in a clinical setting to confirm the experimental data on enhanced cerebral perfusion during epileptic seizures. Clinical observation of a patient presenting relapsing seizures in the intensive care unit. Transcranial Doppler (TCD) was used to monitor both blood velocities and the arterial caliber in the B-flow mode as a proxy of blood flow of the middle cerebral artery (MCA).
