Matching the unmet needs of cancer survivors to resources using a shared care model.

A substantial number of cancer survivors have unmet needs affecting quality of life. The purpose of this project was to match the unmet needs of cancer survivors in three rural counties to available evidence-based interventions and resources that improve survivor quality of life using a shared care model. The modified Survivors Unmet Needs Survey (SUNS) was used to explore the unmet needs of 52 survivors in three domains: emotional health, access and continuity of care, and information.

An innovative tool for experiential learning of nursing quality and safety competencies.

There is a growing call to include quality and safety content into nursing curricula that are already overburdened with content. Yet evidence suggests that many nursing schools have not yet done so. The authors describe 1 innovative, experiential approach to teaching quality and safety in the clinical environment.

Partnership in action: a satellite program to expand an existing bachelor of science in nursing education program.

The nursing shortage affects communities at many levels, from community hospitals to schools of nursing. The authors describe an innovative 4-way partnership involving a community healthcare district, a community hospital, a community college, and a state university. Working together, these partners established a new baccalaureate nursing program based at a community college and also functioning as a satellite of an existing university-based program, which increased the enrollment of baccalaureate nursing students by 50%.
