Recent studies have revealed that sport activity is a protective factor regarding smoking, but a risk factor for alcohol abuse. Considering these findings, it is necessary to investigate the occurrence of substance misuse. Sports that are associated with a substantial amount of physical/mental stress are very interesting from the perspective of substance misuse (e.

Furthermore, study attempted to identify the difference between the morphological profiles of the individual playing positions. Entity sample of the study consist of the 148 players that participated in 45 matches of the World Men's Handball Championship which took place in Croatia in 2009.

With this purpose, a research was conducted in which the video records from a competition were acquired. The sample of entities (N = 71) consisted of successful vaults of 30 pole vaulters, whose attempts were recorded at the European Junior Championship in Novi Sad, held on 23-26th July 2009.

Further on, the research was done on 70 handball players aged 15, 31 on average, who were grouped according to their positions on goalkeepers, outside players, wings and pivots. Furthermore, according to the quality of playing, they were divided in two quality groups of players, those from the wider cadet national team, thus characterised as top female players in Croatia, and those who had never been invited into the cadet national team and thus can be referred to as low-quality, i.

For this purpose, a set of 10 basic motor tests and a set of 5 situational motor karate tests were applied on a sample of 60 male and 51 female Croatian karateka aged 13 to 15. Different motor and specific motor structures according to gender were isolated by factor analysis.

The aim of this research was to establish sex differentiations in motor abilities on the transversal sample of 1020 subjects, pupils from the fifth to the eighth grade of the elementary school. Sex differentiations are significantly more expressed in puberty than in pre-puberty age, which approves that the development trend of certain motor abilities is different compared to the sex.

Anthropological characteristics were defined by 16 variables, 6 of them were used for the estimation of morphological characteristics, 7 variables for evaluation of motor characteristics and one variable each for evaluation of kinetic, kinematics and technical parameters of shooting. The significant differences were determined in variables for evaluation of longitudinal dimensionality of dominant arm, explosive strength of pull-out agility, strength of the hand grip, hand flexion ability for the ball throw-out and finally, correct and sound technique of the throw-out movement.

To assess the anthropological status we used 15 tests, 4 out of which were used to assess morphological characteristics, 7 to assess motor abilities and 4 to assess personal characteristics. By multivariant analysis of variance, we established statistically significant differences on the level p < 0.

A battery of 13 variables consisting of somatotype components (3 variables), basic motor abilities (5 variables) and specific motor abilities (5 variables) were applied in a sample of 52 elite female handball players. Differences in biomotor characteristics according to playing performance and position of female handball players were determined by use of the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and discriminative analysis.

First approach is based on the fuzzy logic and expert opinion about compatibility of proposed hypothetical morphological models for 14 different sports which are part of the expert system. Second approach is based on determining the differences between morphological characteristics of a tested individual and top athlete's morphological characteristics for particular sport.

The latent structure of morphological variables in both sexes was defined by three factors but at a different order of significance: in boys, the order was longitudinal dimensionality, voluminosity, mass and subcutaneous fat tissue and transverse dimensionality, whereas in girls the order was voluminosity, mass and subcutaneous fat tissue, longitudinal dimensionality and transverse dimensionality. The latent structure of torax body posture indicator was defined by two factors, the status of body posture of the rear part of the thorax, and status of the body posture of the front part of the thorax.

Motor status included 8 variables for assessment of explosive strength of landing and throwing, agility, speed strength, movement frequency, and flexibility. Psychologic status was analyzed through 4 dimensions according to Eysenck: extroversion, psychotic behavior, neurotic behavior, and lie.
