In this study, we investigated the role of OSH6, which encodes a homolog of the oxysterol-binding protein, in the assimilation of n-alkanes in the yeast Yarrowia lipolytica. The deletion mutant of OSH6 showed growth defects on n-alkanes of 10-16 carbons. In the deletion mutant, production of the functional cytochrome P450 was not observed.
