Purpose: To analyze the ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) features of eyes with chronic hypotony after pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) and compare them with the UBM features of eyes with normal intraocular pressure (IOP) after PPV.

Methods: This comparative (nonrandomized) interventional study included 64 eyes of 64 patients who underwent PPV. Group 1 included 20 eyes with less complex vitreoretinal diseases (VRD) that presented with normal IOP after PPV.

Purpose: To determine the presence of symmetry of anterior segment morphometric measurements between normal adelphic eyes.

Methods: One hundred and seventy-eight eyes of 89 subjects with normal ophthalmic examination were examined by ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM). In each eye, the anterior chamber depth (ACD) as well as 11 other measurements that characterize anterior segment morphometry were measured in 4 different quadrants (superior, nasal, inferior and temporal).

Purpose: To determine if pars plana vitrectomy induces long-term changes in the anterior segment anatomy by means of ultrasound biomicroscopy.

Methods: A prospective case series study was undertaken of consecutive patients referred to a tertiary eye care centre for pars plana vitrectomy as the only procedure. Twenty eyes of 20 patients undergoing pars plana vitrectomy alone were studied by ultrasound biomicroscopy.

The most common anterior segment tumors are primary neuroepithelial cysts, uveal melanomas, metastatic tumors, and benign tumors. In the majority of cases, the diagnosis can be made utilizing a careful clinical history and ocular examination. Ultrasound examination (low and high frequency) has become an indispensable tool used to determine tumor extension and involvement of the surrounding structures.

Objective: To correlate ultrasound biomicroscopic images of iris and ciliary body melanomas with their histopathologic features.

Methods: Ultrasound biomicroscopy was performed in 3 cases of iris melanoma and in 3 cases of ciliary body melanoma. Cross-sectional ultrasound biomicroscopic images were compared with findings from clinical examination and light microscopy to evaluate associations between their histopathologic, surface, and internal ultrasound characteristics.
