The objective of this study was to develop a technique which would permit access to the entire contents of long bones using a minimally invasive approach. Vascular catheterization techniques were used to allow access to the entire marrow cavity through a minimal percutaneous approach. A new device was also developed to reach the epiphysis of the long bone.

The authors report on a case of spinal inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) in a 22-year-oldwoman. Neuroradiological features of this intradural extramedullary mass were suggestive of a meningioma or neurinoma. The lesion was easily resected following a T-9 laminectomy.
