Background: To compare visual function and structural improvements in pseudophakic eyes with diabetic macular oedema (DMO) treated with the 0.19mg Fluocinolone Acetonide (FAc) intravitreal implant (Iluvien) in a 'real world' setting.
Methods: A single centre retrospective evaluation of patients with DMO unresponsive to conventional treatment treated with the FAc implant according to UK guidelines.
Aim: To assess the rate of 'treatment-requiring diabetic macular oedema (DMO)' in eyes for the two years before and after cataract surgery.
Methods: Multicentre national diabetic retinopathy (DR) database study with anonymised data extraction across 19 centres from an electronic medical record system.
Inclusion Criteria: eyes undergoing cataract surgery in patients with diabetes with no history of DMO prior to study start.
Punctate inner choroidopathy (PIC), an idiopathic inflammatory multifocal chorioretinopathy that predominantly affects young myopic women, appears to be relatively rare, but there are limited data to support accurate estimates of prevalence, and it is likely that the condition is underdiagnosed. The etiological relationship between PIC and other conditions within the "white dot syndromes" group remains uncertain. We, like others, would suggest that PIC and multifocal choroiditis with panuveitis represent a single disease process that is modified by host factors (including host immunoregulation) to cause the range of clinical phenotypes seen.

Design: Multicenter, national electronic medical record (EMR) database study with univariate and multivariate regression modeling.
Participants: A total of 65 836 eyes of 44 635 patients undergoing cataract surgery.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine whether social deprivation is a risk factor for late presentation of patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy and whether it affects their access to urgent laser treatment.
Methods: Using a 2:1 case: control design, 102 patients referred to a UK teaching hospital as part of the UK Diabetic Retinopathy National Screening Programme were identified for the period between 1 June 2010 to 1 June 2013. Social deprivation was scored using the Index of Multiple Deprivation 2010.
Purpose: To assess the visual needs of the adult population with Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) and to ensure that this is addressed by a national Bardet-Biedl Service.
Methods: A cross-sectional analysis of all adults under a national BBS Clinic (Birmingham, United Kingdom) was performed using the BBS Ophthalmic Assessment Tool, a novel tool designed to capture the key elements of visual function, impact on lifestyle, and clinical findings relevant to BBS.
Results: Sixty-two adult patients were confirmed to have BBS.
Background/aims: Advances in therapy have improved outcomes for patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). Prompt access to treatment is a priority and may be used as a key performance indicator. In this study, we investigate how social deprivation may impact on access to services, treatment and visual impairment registration.

It commonly happens following conditions where there has been a profound loss of vision or interruption of visual input into the occipital cortex. It is important to distinguish this largely innocuous condition from psychiatric conditions that exist in the same age group.
