Background: Congenital urogenital anomalies affect 4-60 per 10,000 births. Maternal obesity, along with other risk factors, is well documented as a contributing factor. However, the impact of paternal obesity on risk is unclear.

To date, the focus of scientific articles has primarily centered on genetics and maternal environmental factors, with comparatively less attention given to paternal risk factors.
Objectives: This study aims to investigate the potential association between paternal pre-conceptional physical activity levels (PA), along with paternal peri-conceptional smoking and alcohol consumption, and the risk of CHD in offspring.
Background: Lebanon ranks first amongst Middle-Eastern countries in terms of cigarette and waterpipe smoking. Understanding the mediating factors for nicotine addiction in adolescents who have experienced parental divorce is vital to take effective measures that will help in lowering its prevalence in our community. The objective of this study was to investigate the association between the increasingly concerning parental divorce and nicotine addiction in Lebanese adolescents while taking into consideration the plausible mediating effect of abuse and bullying victimization.

Work fatigue affects not only medical workers but can also leave a negative impact on patients. With the burden of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the economic crisis Lebanese doctors have been facing in the last 2 years, the aim of our study was to validate the 3D-Work Fatigue Inventory (3D-WFI) among Lebanese physicians and assess the rate and correlates of work fatigue (physical, mental and emotional).

Design: Cross-sectional study conducted between July and December 2019.
Setting: All Lebanese governorates.
Background: One of the most effective public health interventions in the world is immunization. However, some parents doubt its usefulness and safety. Many factors influence their decision to vaccinate, including their sociodemographic characteristics, their trust in the public health system, the parent-physician relationship, their level of knowledge and their attitudes towards vaccination.

Results: A higher percentage of newborns who had a skin-to-skin contact with their mothers had their bath at 24 h vs 2 h after birth (65.
Background: Different charts are used to assess premature growth. The Fenton chart, based on prenatal growth, has been used in the neonates' intensive care unit (NICU) of the Notre Dame des Secours University Hospital to assess premature newborns' development. Intergrowth21 is a new multidisciplinary, multiethnic growth chart better adapted to premature growth.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAtopic asthma is characterized by the presence of sensitization to common aeroallergens, which tends to have a worse prognosis than non-atopic asthma. The objectives were to determine the prevalence of aeroallergens sensitization in the Lebanese pediatric asthmatic population and determine the relationship between allergens sensitization (indoor and outdoor) and age, area of residence and altitude. A sample, consisting of 919 asthmatic children (aged 1 to 18 years, from 2010 until 2017), underwent skin prick testing (SPT) with 21 common allergens: 5 grasses (cocksfoot, sweet vernal-grass, rye-grass, meadow grass, timothy), Parietaria, olive, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farina (DP-DF), dog and cat dander, Alternaria longipens, Aspergillus fumigatus and nidulans, Cupressaceae, pine, German cockroach, and 4 cereals (oat, wheat, barley, maize).

Prognostic stratification of larynx cancer patients based on molecular prognostic tumor biomarkers may lead to more efficient clinical management. Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) and Heat Shock Protein 27 (HSP27) have an important role in tumorigenesis and are considered promising candidate biomarkers for various types of cancer.
