Osteochondritis dissecans of the lateral femoral condyle in a patient affected by osteogenesis imperfecta: a case report.

Osteochondritis dissecans is a very uncommon phenomenon in osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). A 14-year-old boy, affected by OI and followed in our Center for Congenital Osteodystrophies, had a knee trauma and MRI indicated a hollowed area of 2.5×1.

Comparison of Insall-Salvati ratios in children with an acute anterior cruciate ligament tear and a matched control population.

Objective: An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is an increasingly recognized cause of knee pain in young patients and in athletes in particular and can be detected non-invasively with MRI. Anecdotal information suggests that patella alta may be more common in the setting of this injury, but no study has documented this phenomenon. This study sought to test whether an ACL tear is associated with an increased Insall-Salvati ratio suggestive of patella alta.

Risk analysis in tibial plateau fractures: association between severity, treatment and clinical outcome.

Our retrospective study analyzes efficacy of treatment techniques we used for the reduction of tibial plateau fracture. A sample of 67 individuals is evaluated, 50 males and 17 females, and treated for a tibial plateau fracture from December 2003 to June 2008. The mean age is 46 (range 22-72).

Adequacy of treatment, bone remodeling, and clinical outcome in pediatric supracondylar humeral fractures.

The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare, both clinically and roentgenographically, 62 extension-type supracondylar fractures on the basis of the synthesis method and severity of the fracture, with a mean follow-up of 4 years and 3 months. Range of motion, axial alignment of the elbow, muscle strength, and joint stability were estimated and the Mayo Elbow Performance Index and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America Pediatric Outcomes Data Collection Instrument questionnaire were used. Furthermore, we took radiographic measurements (Baumann's angle, humero-capitellar angle, and lateral rotational percentage).
