Objective: to analyze the development of the labor market in Gerontological Nursing in Brazil, between 1970 and 1996.

Method: a descriptive-qualitative study with a historical approach that uses the oral history of 14 research nurses working in the historical period, based on the ideas of Eliot Freidson.

Results: Nursing overcame barriers to change the care practices to elderly people in the period described, considering the lack of a specific labor market; the need for theoretical knowledge for Gerontology care; the scarcity of research and researchers in the field; the emergence of caregivers for elderly people; the construction of multidisciplinarity and the transformation of institutions for a long-term stay.

Objective: To identify post-accident conduct in the workplace by health professionals in caring for people with HIV/Aids.

Method: A qualitative and descriptive research study with a socio-historical perspective (1986-2006), performed in a reference hospital for infectious diseases in the State of Santa Catarina. To collect data, interviews were conducted with oral history among 23 health workers and, for the treatment of data, Bardin's content analysis was used.

The scope of this study is to ascertain how the health professionals of a Reference Hospital for Infectious diseases experienced the AIDS epidemic while caring for people with the disease between 1986 and 2006. It involved a qualitative study with a socio-historical approach that used oral history to collect data from twenty-three health professionals. The following categories emerged from the content analysis: a change in profile of the AIDS epidemic; the improvement of care for people with HIV/AIDS; and an improvement in working conditions.

The article analyzes the scholarship on the history of nursing in Brazil produced by research groups from 1999 to 2009. A descriptive and documental study of an exploratory nature was conducted, using version 5.0 of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development's directory of research groups as well as the individual curricula of lead researchers, as available on the Lattes Platform.

Unlabelled: The study aimed to identify the major public policy on HIV/AIDS in Brazilian society, since 1980; and to reflect on their impact on the assistance for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Descriptors: public health policies, Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome and integral health care, we obtained a sample of 23 articles in Medline and Lilacs data bases. After analysis, there were two moments: first, the emergence of public policies in response to the AIDS epidemic, and second, to improve care for people living with HIV/AIDS.
