Purpose: A patency at the cochlear basal turn (CBTP) can lead to an abrupt leakage of CSF, known as intraoperative CSF gusher. To date, there is no established technique for predicting an intraoperative CSF gusher. We aim to establish the prevalence, width and anatomical variation of CBTP in patients with and without hearing loss as well as to estimate its association between intraoperative CSF gusher.

Background And Purpose: In patients with acute middle cerebral artery (MCA) stroke, therapeutic decisions are influenced by the location of the occlusion. This study aimed to analyze clinical outcomes in patients with acute ischemic MCA stroke treated with systemic intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) using recombinant tissue plasminogen activator, according to the location of the occlusion.

Methods: Of 621 patients screened, 136 with acute stroke and MCA occlusion confirmed by CT angiography were retrospectively included in this study.

The combination of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) and recombinant tissue-plasminogen activator (tPA) is of interest in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke with a view to combine positive effects of both strategies. We investigated neurological and functional outcome after early treatment with HBO additional to tPA in ischemic stroke. Focal cerebral ischemia was induced using an embolic stroke model in 87 male Wistar rats.
