Background: SARS-CoV-2 infection in transplant patients has shown greater lethality and vaccination in this group of patients has shown less information. The objective of this study is to show the statistics in Mexico of lethality in kidney recipients infected with COVID-19 in relation to vaccination and variants of the coronavirus.
Methods: This is a bibliographic search of kidney transplant recipient patients since the start of the pandemic in Mexico to determine lethality after SARS-CoV-2 compared to the general population and in relation to patients, the 4 most important infectious peaks in the country due to identified variants, and also before and after vaccination.
Background: Bipolar disorder (BD) presents with high obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) and pathophysiological and phenomenological abnormalities shared with cardiometabolic disorders. Genomic studies may help define if they share genetic liability. This selective review of BD with obesity and T2D will focus on genomic studies, stress their current limitations and guide future steps in developing the field.

BPA is used in the production of materials such as polycarbonate plastics, epoxy resins and dental sealants. Whereas, the endocrine modulating activity of BPA and its effects on reproductive health have been widely studied, its effects on the function of the immune system are poorly characterized.

The objective of this study was to determine the factors that influence the attitudes of the population in Mexico toward being a donor.
Methods: We conducted an observational, cross-sectional study with a survey on the attitudes toward donation in the population of Mexico.
Objectives: The biochemical conditions in which patients arrive before renal transplantation (RT) are rarely evaluated; examples of them are found in the Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS). The objective of our study was to ascertain the fulfillment of biochemical goals for patients on renal replacement therapy before RT.
Material And Methods: Observational, retrospective study of patients who were on a RT protocol between 2012 and 2017 in 2 RT centers in Mexico.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with reduction of fertility and increased complications during pregnancy. The aim of this work is to analyze the clinical outcomes and risk factors in pregnant women who needed to start dialysis with different schedules in a public hospital in Mexico City, with particular attention on the interference of social and cultural elements as well as resource limitations.
Material And Methods: CKD women who needed dialysis in pregnancy over the period 2002⁻2014 and had with complete demographic and outcome data were included in this retrospective study.
Aims: MicroRNAs (miRs) regulate processes involved in both cardiac remodeling and obesity. We investigated if the expression of selected miRs in patients with heart failure (HF) is influenced by the presence of obesity.
Methods: In this case-control study, we compared plasma levels of miR-21, -130b, -221, -423-5p, and the -221/-130b ratio in 57 age- and gender-matched subjects: 40 HF patients (20 obese HF and 20 lean HF) and 17 lean healthy controls.
Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) causes one of the most economically important diseases in cattle, and the virus is found worldwide. A better understanding of the disease associated factors is a crucial step towards the definition of strategies for control and eradication. In this study we trained a random forest (RF) prediction model and performed variable importance analysis to identify factors associated with BVDV occurrence.

Methods: The level of lipid peroxidation was estimated by measuring TBARS. ATPase activities were quantified by a colorimetric method measuring the amount of inorganic phosphate during the assay.
MicroRNAs are key regulators of eukaryotic gene expression whose fundamental role has already been identified in many cell pathways. The correct identification of miRNAs targets is still a major challenge in bioinformatics and has motivated the development of several computational methods to overcome inherent limitations of experimental analysis. Indeed, the best results reported so far in terms of specificity and sensitivity are associated to machine learning-based methods for microRNA-target prediction.
