Probable Rivaroxaban-Induced Full Body Rash: A Case Report.

Introduction: Rivaroxaban is a novel oral anticoagulant with several indications, one of which is for stroke prevention in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. We present a case of probable rivaroxaban-induced rash.

Case Summary: A 79-year-old female with a medical history of atrial fibrillation experienced a stroke, after which she was prescribed rivaroxaban 20 mg.

Implementing Psychopharmacology Rounds in a Nursing Facility to Improve Antipsychotic Usage.

Objectives: Evaluate whether implementing of pharmacy-led psychopharmacology rounds in a nursing facility will improve the rate of antipsychotic use.

Design: Single-center, prospective; medication use evaluation (MUE).

Patient and public involvement in clinical guidelines: international experiences and future perspectives.

Background: Clinical practice guidelines (CPG) are important tools for improving patient care. Patient and public involvement is recognised as an essential component of CPG development and implementation. The Guideline International Network Patient and Public Involvement Working Group (G-I-N PUBLIC) aims to support the development, implementation and evaluation of guideline-oriented patient and public involvement programmes (PPIPs).

NHQR/NHDR measures for women of reproductive age.

Background: This article addresses measures of importance to women of reproductive age in the first National Healthcare Quality Report (NHQR) and National Healthcare Disparities Report (NHDR).

Methods: The authors review each of the 4 components of quality of care: effectiveness, safety, timeliness, and patient centeredness. The effectiveness component topics with relevance to women of childbearing age include breast cancer, cervical cancer, HIV, AIDS, mental health, and maternity care.

Dystroglycan, a scaffold for the ERK-MAP kinase cascade.

Dystroglycan is an important cell adhesion receptor linking the actin cytoskeleton, via utrophin and dystrophin, to laminin in the extracellular matrix. To identify adhesion-related signalling molecules associated with dystroglycan, we conducted a yeast two-hybrid screen and identified mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase kinase 2 (MEK2) as a beta-dystroglycan interactor. Pull-down experiments and localization studies substantiated a physiological link between beta-dystroglycan and MEK and localized MEK with dystroglycan in membrane ruffles.

Proximal C-terminal domain of sulphonylurea receptor 2A interacts with pore-forming Kir6 subunits in KATP channels.

Functional KATP (ATP-sensitive potassium) channels are hetero-octamers of four Kir6 (inwardly rectifying potassium) channel subunits and four SUR (sulphonylurea receptor) subunits. Possible interactions between the C-terminal domain of SUR2A and Kir6.2 were investigated by co-immunoprecipitation of rat SUR2A C-terminal fragments with full-length Kir6.
