This article discusses experimental results concerning the quality of through holes drilled in Inconel 718. The tests involved hole cutting under 27 different conditions using different values of the feed per revolution and spindle speed, and different types of kinematic system. The drilling was performed on a CTX Alpha 500 universal turning center using tools with internal coolant supply.

This article presents an approximately model that allows for the determination of the maximum temperature of the chip surface in dry orthogonal turning. The mathematical formula describing the maximum temperature of the chip surface was formulated based on experimental data. The experiments were carried out for orthogonal cutting of austenitic steel AISI 321 with flat rake face carbide inserts that were made of tungsten carbide H10F, both uncoated and coated, with coatings of varied arrangement.

Article Synopsis
  • The article studies temperature data from an aluminum alloy during face milling using four cutting strategies, measuring temperatures with K-type thermocouples at six points.
  • It uses numerical simulations through finite element and finite difference methods to analyze heat transfer in the cutting zone and compares these results with experimental data.
  • The findings indicate that temperature distribution affects surface flatness at the ends of the workpiece, influenced by both the depth of cut and the chosen cutting strategy related to the material's thermophysical properties.
