The flash glucose monitoring system (FGMS) has recently become one of the most common monitoring methods in dogs and cats with diabetes mellitus. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of FGMS on the quality of life of diabetic pet owners (DPOs). Fifty DPOs were asked to answer a 30-question survey.

Antibiotic Stewardship for Canine and Feline Acute Urinary Tract Infection: An Observational Study in a Small Animal Hospital in Northwest Italy.

Antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) have been suggested to reduce antimicrobial resistance phenomena in veterinary medicine, as antibiotics are commonly used without microbiological confirmation. The aim of the present study is to design a specific working flow for a tailored antimicrobial treatment in the case of canine and feline urinary tract infections (UTIs). Urine samples were collected by cystocentesis from 16 dogs and 12 cats presenting acute signs of UTI.

The use of inhaled nitric oxide and prone position in an ARDS patient with severe traumatic brain injury during spine stabilization.

The use of inhaled nitric oxide in patients with traumatic brain injury, intracranial hypertension, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) has been reported in an intensive care unit setting only in a few case reports. The use of the prone position for patients with traumatic brain injury and lung impairment has been reported only in selected cases. Here we report our experience with the use of both inhaled nitric oxide and the prone position together in the operating room in a patient with head injury and ARDS who underwent column stabilization.
