Introduction: The first goal of this research was to perceive the global commitment towards the organization and archiving of dental records and to compare it with each country's security risk rating. The second one was to study dental records in a sample of the Portuguese military population, using the available national dental records.
Material And Methods: An e-mail was sent to representative dentistry associations in several countries, requesting some information concerning the professionals' awareness of this issue.
microRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs, with a length of 18 to 24 nucleotides that play a regulatory role in several cellular processes. Since their discovery, they have been identified in cells, tissues, organs, and body fluids and their potential as molecular biomarkers for the diagnosis of various pathologic conditions has been explored. However, little is known about the origin of the extracellular miRNAs and what factors influence the levels of circulating miRNAs.

From a total of 1229 multiple trauma cases treated at the Emergency Room of the Santo Antonio Hospital - Oporto Hospital Center, Portugal, between August 2001 and December 2007, 251 patients had facial wounds and 209 had maxillofacial fractures.
