Introduction: During pregnancy, women experience metabolic changes that may induce insulin resistance, which can be traced to the blood glucose levels A number of factors may intervene in the metabolism of glucose in pregnant women; one of them is body composition. This factor is useful for studying metabolic diseases, for which the identification of the fat mass/muscle mass index (FMMMI) considered an especially relevant factor. Owing to their nature, techniques such as bioimpedance have been sparsely used for analysis during pregnancy.

Article Synopsis
  • Proliferating pilar tumors are rare skin tumors that typically occur on the scalp, mainly affecting women and originating from hair follicles.
  • A study conducted at a hospital in Mexico over 23 years identified 17 cases, with a mean age of 54.9 years; most tumors were benign, though 3 cases were malignant.
  • The findings confirm that scalp involvement is common and that while many tumors are asymptomatic and benign, there is a small risk of malignancy that should not be overlooked.

Knowledge on the molecular mechanisms underlying metastasis colonization in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) remains incomplete. A complete overview integrating driver mutations, primary tumour heterogeneity and overt metastasis lacks the dynamic contribution of disseminating metastatic cells due to the inaccessibility to the molecular profiling of Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs). By combining immunoisolation and whole genome amplification, we performed a global gene expression analysis of EpCAM positive CTCs from advanced NSCLC patients.

Aims: The World Health Organization lymphoma classification recognizes two different Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders of childhood: systemic EBV-positive T-cell lymphoproliferative disease of childhood, and hydroa vacciniforme-like lymphoma, which is more prevalent in Asia and Latin America. The aim of this study was to characterize six cases of paediatric EBV-positive peripheral T-cell lymphoma with distinct features.

Methods And Results: All cases were male, with a median patient age of 9 years (range: 5-17 years).
