Article Synopsis
  • * After analyzing six studies with 1,229 patients, it was found that reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), atrial fibrillation (AF), left ventricular apical aneurysm (LVAA), and pacemaker use significantly elevate the risk of stroke, while anticoagulation therapy appears to reduce the likelihood of having a stroke.
  • * The researchers conclude that certain heart-related conditions are linked to higher AIS risk in CD patients, suggesting a need for more randomized studies to develop effective prevention strategies for these individuals.

Background: Current guidelines recommend at least 12 months of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). However, DAPT prolonged use may increase the risk of bleeding complications. Therefore, we aimed to perform a meta-analysis to assess whether ticagrelor monotherapy after ≤1 month of DAPT improves clinical outcomes compared with continued DATP in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients post-PCI.
