Efficacy assessment of intravenous immunoglobulin for gastrointestinal involvement in systemic sclerosis using UCLA SCTC GIT: Case-based review.

Objectives: To summarize the published evidence in the literature on the use of intravenous immunoglobulin in gastrointestinal tract involvement in systemic sclerosis patients and report the experience of our department.

Methods: A systematic literature review was performed; and a literature search was conducted in MEDLINE and Embase until 1/5/2024, using the participants, intervention, comparator and outcomes framework. Only full-text articles involving systemic sclerosis adults, submitted to intravenous immunoglobulin (at least one administration) to treat primary gastrointestinal tract manifestations.

Adolescence increases vulnerability to mental ill-health, particularly anxiety disorders like Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Still, the understanding of Psychological Flexibility/Inflexibility (PF/PI) as a transdiagnostic framework relevant to explaining these difficulties and the efficacy of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in addressing adolescent SAD and GAD remains limited. Hence, this study has two aims: examining the role of PI/PF on adolescents' mental health and assessing ACT's efficacy for adolescent SAD and GAD.

The experimental design was in randomized blocks, with 6 treatments, distributed in a 2 × 3 factorial scheme (sex × conditions in creation), with 12 repetitions/treatment, totaling 72 pens. The treatments were as follows: branched chain for males (T1), sisal branched string for males (T2), males without EE (T3), branched chain for females (T4), sisal branched string for females (T5), and females without EE (T6).

Thus, mesenchymal-stem/stromal-cell (MSC)-based therapies can be of great benefit to SSc patients given their immunomodulatory, anti-fibrotic, and pro-angiogenic potential, which is associated with low toxicity. In this study, peripheral blood mononuclear cells from healthy individuals (HC, = 6) and SSc patients ( = 9) were co-cultured with MSCs in order to assess how MSCs affected the activation and polarization of 58 different T cell subsets, including Th1, Th17, and Treg.
