Spontaneous spreading depolarizations originate subcortically in a novel mouse model of familial hemiplegic migraine type 2.

The mechanisms of initiation of spreading depolarization (SD) are understudied due to a paucity of disease models with spontaneously occurring events. We here present a novel mouse model of familial hemiplegic migraine type 2 (FHM2), expressing the missense T345A-mutated α2 subunit of the Na/K adenosine triphosphatase pump (Atp1a2). Homozygous Atp1a2 mice showed regular spontaneous SDs that exhibit a diurnal rhythm and typically originate from the hippocampus.

[Solvability of mental health care in the Family Health Strategy: social representation of professionals and users].

Objective: To aprehend the social representations about the solvability in mental health care with users of the Family Health Strategy and professionals of family health teams and of the Center for Psychosocial Care.

Method: A qualitative study using semi-structured interviews for data collection, and the Alceste software for analysis. This software uses the Hierarchical Descending Classification based on the examination of lexical roots, considering the words as units and providing context in the corpus.

[Preceptorship in the perspective of comprehensive care: conversations with nurses].

The aim of this study was to understand preceptorship in nursing practice fields and its association with comprehensive care. This study was based on qualitative field research conducted in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, from April to June 2012. A total of 20 preceptors were interviewed in the practice fields of three higher education institutions at three public state hospitals and one basic health unit Thematic analysis enabled apprehension of the theme 'preceptorship in the perspective of comprehensive care' and the empirical categories: (dis)articulation in teaching-service: distancing from academic institutions; welcoming students in the practice field.

[Matrix support: device for resolution of mental health clinical cases at the primary health care].

The use of crack cocaine has given rise to an intense discussion in society. Research has contributed to the characterization of users and the negative consequences of its use. However, few studies have conducted in-depth study of the social and cultural contexts in which crack cocaine is used.

[Caring production for people with high blood pressure: reception, bonding and co-responsibility].

This study aimed to understand how the devices of reception, bonding and co-responsibility have been used in the construction of care to patients with high blood pressure. Qualitative research conducted in Fortaleza, in a Family Health Center (FHC), which has, as participants, nine health workers and ten patients. For the collection of information it was used semi-structured interviews and systematic observation.

[Accessibility and resolution of mental health care: the matrix support experience].

Psycho-social Care Centers (PCC) are also designed to coordinate actions in mental health care in Brazil, mainly at Primary Health Care (PHC) level. Matrix support is one of the pillars of the program, as it aims to ensure assistance of specialized back-up staff to the health teams. In this respect, this research seeks to understand how matrix actions in mental health contribute to the accessibility and resolution of mental health cases.

[Experiencing acute stroke: the meaning of the illness for hospitalized patients].

The aim was to understand the meaning of the experience of the acute stroke patient. This was a qualitative study, based on the conceptual theory of symbolic interaction. It was conducted in a unit specialized in the treatment of stroke at a tertiary hospital in Fortaleza-CE and the ethical aspects were respected.

[Children and adolescents with chronic kidney disease in an educational-therapeutic environment: support for cultural nursing care].

This qualitative study was performed using an ethnographic approach, with the objective to understand how children and adolescents with chronic kidney disease experience their disease and treatment, and describe the educational-therapeutic care from the perspective of transcultural nursing. Participants were eleven subjects undergoing dialysis treatment. The study phases followed the observation-participation-reflection model, complemented by interviews.

[Matrixing support as an instrument of primary healthcare in mental health: multiple views and devices for resolution].

The scope of this paper is to analyze the articulation of the mental health services between the teams of the Family Health Strategy and Psychosocial Care Center by the matrixing process with emphasis on comprehensive care and case resolution. The subjects included 32 users and 22 family members attended in the matrixing in mental health, 46 health professionals from the Family Health Strategy and 15 from the Psychosocial Care Centers in two cities in the state of Ceara. It is a study of a qualitative nature based on critical hermeneutics.

[Voices of madness in song: outlooks on madness and the insane in Brazilian songs].

This article is the result of research associated with the representation of madness and the insane in contemporary Brazilian songs. Michel Foucault's considerations about the history of madness and those of Mary Jane Spink about discursive practices and the production of meaning formed the theoretical base for the study. The methodology consisted in mapping the circulation of words and meanings about madness in thirty songs collected by Google's search engine.

[Promotion of Mental Health - Technologies for Care: emotional involvement, rteception, co-responsibility and autonomy].

Healthcare relations serve as efficient devices for the promotion of mental health and the development of comprehensive practices. This study seeks to analyze the measures that make mental healthcare possible in the daily operations of a Psychosocial Healthcare Center (CAPS). It is qualitative research adopting a critical and reflexive approach conducted in CAPS in the municipality of Sobral in the State of Ceará.

[(Dis)satisfaction with mental healthcare work: a study in Psychosocial Care Centers].

The scope of this article is to analyze satisfaction in the workplace of mental healthcare professionals who serve in Psychosocial Care Centers (Caps). The research is of a qualitative nature and the data-collecting medium was semistructured interviews with 19 workers of three Caps in Fortaleza, in the Northern Brazilian State of Ceará. The treatment of the empirical material was based upon the analysis of content with an emphasis on the thematic bias.

[Social participation in mental health: space of construction of citizenship, policy formulation and decision making].

The article approaches the comprehension of professionals that act in the mental health area about the movement of construction of social participation in the health system of Fortaleza, Ceará State. The methodology adopted is based upon qualitative approach. The study was developed with semi-structured interviews with 17 mental health professionals of the city above mentioned.

[Knowledge of health professionals about the rights of hospitalized children: an exploratory study].

Along the years, the rights of children and adolescents including those related to hospital context have been proclaimed in Brazil. The low level of knowledge by health professionals about the rights can be a factor that contributes to that non observance. In this paper, we tried to understand how health professionals who deal with inpatient children on a daily basis perceive children's and their families' rights.

[Mother's understanding of care produced by health team in a pediatric hospital].

The purpose of this paper was to understand how the mothers perceive some aspects of care provided to their children. That was a qualitative study whose data were obtained by means of semi-structured interviews. Seven interviews were carried out with children's caregivers who were hospitalized in a public hospital in Fortaleza, CE, Brazil, in 2006.

[Nursing in stomatherapy: clinical care for the patient with varicose ulcer].

Review study that aimed at analyzing the nursing scientific production about varicose ulcer in the period from 2002 to 2007. For the data collection it was used Medline and LILACS databases. Twenty-five materials were found in seven national and international journals.

[Diabetes mellitus in adolescence: experiences of adolescents and their mothers].

The growing rate of chronic diseases among children and adolescents, especially diabetes mellitus, calls for integrated health care of the individual in his or her social environment. The objective of this study was to understand the health care experiences and feelings of adolescents and their mothers about having diabetes and the treatment. Semi-structured interviews were performed with eight adolescents and seven mothers at a public healthcare service in the city of Barbalha, in the state of Ceará, Brazil.

[Technology of relations as device of humanized attendance in basic attention to health in the perspective of access, sheltering and attachment].

To health workers and users the technology of relations as a device of humanized attendance in basic attention, highlighting the categories access, sheltering and attachment can present diverse meanings and have a subjective nature to treat with each one of different interests of subjects involved in construction of health. Thus, the objective of this research is to discuss how users and workers notice the access, sheltering and attachment as soft technology in basic attention in city of Fortaleza, Ceará State. The research has a descriptive nature, focusing on qualitative analysis, having as theoretical basis the soft technology in attention to health.

[Interpreting the hospitalization experiences of patients with spine lesion].

Qualitative study with theoretical axis in symbolic interactionism interpretative of Norman Denzin that had as objective to comprehend the meanings of experiences lived by being victim of spine lesion in context hospital and to describe the narratives in range of experiences lived. The subjects of research were seven patient victims of spine lesion traumatic hospitalized in unity of neurology of Institute Dr. José Frota, sited in Fortaleza/Ce.

[Activities and participation of children with cerebral palsy according to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health].

Cerebral palsy is among the most common motor disabilities in our midst that limits individuals from carrying out their normal daily routines. The adjacent alterations, characterization, and participation of the child in these activities is not appropriated explored in the literature. The objective of this survey was to describe the capacity and performance of the children with cerebral palsy treated at an institution in the city of Fortaleza as to their capacity to carry out tasks and participate in daily life activities as stated in the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health.

[Analysis of prevention and treatment of the pressure ulcers proposed by nurses].

Pressure ulcers are still considered a serious problem, especially in elderly people and in situations of chronic-degenerative diseases. The purpose of this study was to identify the literature production about actions of prevention and treatment performed by nurses published from 1999 to 2004, describing the knowledge produced about the theme. This is a descriptive literature review of nursing journals indexed in LILACS and MEDLINE about the theme from 1999 to 2004.

[The experience of the family caregiver of stroke victim: an interactionist approach].

This qualitative research aimed at understanding the experience of familiar caregivers in the process of caring for persons disabled by stroke, in their home. It was held in the Program of Domiciliary Assistance of a tertiary public hospital in Fortaleza-CE, with nine caregivers. The statements were obtained through interviews recorded and organized into categories, then interpreted according to the Symbolic Interactionism method: why I take care?, Realizing the family victimized by stroke, the daily activities of caregivers, perceiving themselves as caregivers and the changes in the lives of caregivers.

[The meaning of the nursing process for nurses of intensive therapy units: an interactionist approach].

The study aimed at comprehending the meaning of the Nursing Process practice for nurses in an intensive care unit. Symbolic interactionism and thematic analysis were used as the theoretical-methodological reference. Seven nurses from an intensive care unit who experience this practice in a public hospital in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará were part of the study.

[Mental health and its dimensions: review of journal articles between 2000 and 2005].

Considering the current changes in social conditions brought about by the psychiatry reform, effects of these transformations are also expected on the scientific producion in this field. The article aimed at analyzing studies published in journals between 2000 and 2005 discussing mental health and its dimensions. Nursing and Collective Health national and international journals, classified in Brazil as B or C, were reviewed.
