- The study compared the effects of two forms of estrogen, ethinylestradiol (EE) and 17β-estradiol (E(2)), on nitric oxide (NO) production and oxidative stress in human endothelial cell cultures.
- The research showed that EE did not boost NO production or protect cells from oxidative stress, whereas E(2) significantly increased NO production and cell viability when exposed to oxidative stress.
- The results indicate that E(2) is more effective in supporting endothelial cell health under oxidative conditions compared to EE.
