Introduction: Factor IX replacement therapy is used for treatment and prophylaxis of bleeding in haemophilia B. rIX-FP is an extended half-life albumin-fusion protein, which, in clinical studies, has demonstrated prolonged dosing intervals up to 21 days for routine prophylaxis, providing therapeutic benefit.
Aims: To describe dosing frequency and consumption (primary endpoint), efficacy and safety of rIX-FP treatment during routine clinical practice in Italy.
is usually detected based on hematoxylin-eosin (H-E) features, but, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and real-time PCR (RT-PCR) are more precise in chronic-gastritis. We evaluated the relevance of these tests in Peruvian gastric cancer samples. We performed and evaluated H-E, IHC staining and RT-PCR in 288 gastric tumors.

TIL levels were higher in invasive margin compartments (IMC).

Its differential diagnosis includes plasmablastic lymphoma, a variant of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with frequent extranodal presentation, which usually affects immunosuppressed patients and is virtually indistinguishable from plasmablastic multiple myeloma on the basis of histology solely. Differential diagnosis relies on close clinical-pathological correlation.

However, no clear survival benefit has been demonstrated, which may in part reflect suboptimal drug exposure related to lower dosages needed to minimize hematological toxicity, specifically cytopenias. Furthermore, the optimal management of specific conditions such as leukocytosis or thrombocytosis in patients under ruxolitinib therapy is still undefined.

Here, we report a retrospective international multicenter study of CLL patients treated with BR as front-line therapy. The cohort included 279 patients with progressive CLL from 33 centers (29 Italian, 3 Israeli and 1 German) who received at least 1 cycle of BR as first-line treatment during the 2008-2014 period.

TSPO is associated with a number of biological processes, including apoptosis, the regulation of cellular proliferation, porphyrin transport and heme biosynthesis, immunomodulation, anion transport and the regulation of steroidogenesis. Thus, numerous studies have proposed TSPO as a promising target for novel therapeutic agents, particularly for the treatment of cancer.

Anemia is the most common symptom of MDS and the majority of patients become transfusion-dependent with the risk of iron overload, which may lead to cardiac, hepatic and endocrine complications. Deferasirox is an orally available iron chelator administered once-daily in transfusion-dependent patients with various chronic anemias.

We performed a multicenter survey in which the use of CAM in 442 Italian patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), the commonest form of leukemia in Western countries, was assessed. Data were collected by means of a face-to-face standardized questionnaire with several items.

Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) is widely used in HIV-infected patients. It is associated with tubular toxicity, but its management is controversial. A possible strategy is to switch to a dual therapy based on lamivudine or emtricitabine (XTC) and protease inhibitors (PIs).

Three out of four patients were given packed red cell transfusion. Steroids and recombinant erythropoietin (r-Epo) were also administered as first-line therapy without response.

Moreover, the progression of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) occurs worldwide. We present a case of simultaneous diagnosis of cysticercosis and HIV infection in a 22-year-old Ecuadorian immigrant.

During or soon after induction therapy, leukemic patients frequently develop gastroenteric complications, characterized by abdominal pain and diarrhea. The association of these symptoms with fever and melena is typical of necrotizing enterocolitis (NE), a life-threatening condition that can be documented by ultrasound abdominal scan.

Two patients with AML-M6 with maturation, one refractory to standard chemotherapy and the other ineligible for cytoxic treatment, obtained complete remission from leukemia using high dose recombinant erythropoietin and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor.
