Hippocampal area CA2 has garnered attention in recent times owing to its significant involvement in social memory and distinctive plasticity characteristics. Research has revealed that the CA2 region demonstrates a remarkable resistance to plasticity, particularly in the Schaffer Collateral (SC)-CA2 pathway. In this study we investigated the role of Nogo-A, a well-known axon growth inhibitor and more recently discovered plasticity regulator, in modulating plasticity within the CA2 region.

This paper investigates the effect of nozzle temperature, from 180 to 260 °C, on properties of polylactic acid (PLA) samples manufactured by fused deposition modeling (FDM) technology. The main objective of this research is to determinate an optimum nozzle temperature relative to tensile, flexural and compressive properties of printed specimens. After manufacturing, the samples exhibit an amorphous structure, without crystallization effects, independently of the fabrication temperature.

The master epigenetic regulator lysine acetyltransferase (KAT) p300/CBP plays a pivotal role in neuroplasticity and cognitive functions. Recent evidence has shown that in several neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease (AD), the expression level and function of p300/CBP are severely compromised, leading to altered gene expression causing pathological conditions. Here, we show that p300/CBP activation by a small-molecule TTK21, conjugated to carbon nanosphere (CSP) ameliorates Aβ-impaired long-term potentiation (LTP) induced by high-frequency stimulation, theta burst stimulation, and synaptic tagging/capture (STC).

Clinical studies have shown that female brains are more predisposed to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), but the cellular and molecular mechanisms behind this disparity remain unknown. In several mouse models of AD, synaptic plasticity dysfunction is an early event and appears before significant accumulation of amyloid plaques and neuronal degeneration. However, it is unclear whether sexual dimorphism at the synaptic level contributes to the higher risk and prevalence of AD in females.

Selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) are nonsteroidal drugs that display an estrogen-agonist or estrogen-antagonist effect depending on the tissue targeted. SERMs have attracted great clinical interest for the treatment of several pathologies, most notably breast cancer and osteoporosis. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is an uncommon soft-tissue tumor characterized by a relatively high risk for local recurrence and low risk for metastasis. Many histopathologic variants of DFSP have been described, including the fibrosarcomatous and myoid variants, which may obscure the diagnosis in some cases, especially when arising in unusual locations. Of all the variants described so far, the only one with prognostic relevance is the FS-DFSP variant, which implies tumor progression and a higher possibility for metastasis.

Among the various models proposed to meet requirements for metrological performance in clinical laboratory measurements, that most widely used is intra- and inter-biological variation. However, this model has weaknesses: a) in some cases, intra-individual biological variation is so small that requirements based on such data may not be met by routine methods; b) there is great variation among the intra- and inter-individual biological variations themselves. We therefore propose integration between "state-of-the-art" methods to minimize imprecision, and also suggest that requirements calculated on the basis of biological variations should be used in setting requirements for minimizing imprecision.
