Aim: This study aimed at evaluating the cholinergic hypothesis in Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients utilizing the pupillometry method, cognitive tests and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D), as well as to examine whether a correlation between cognitive tests and pupillometry exists.

Methods: Forty-two patients with mean age 69.2 ± 7.

Aim: To investigate CYP2E1 IgG4 autoantibody levels and liver biochemical markers in adult patients after anesthesia with desflurane.

Methods: Forty patients who were > 18 years old and undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia with desflurane were studied. Alpha-glutathione-S-transferase (αGST) and IgG4 antibodies against CYP2E1 were measured preoperatively and 96 h postoperatively, as well as complete blood count, prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT), international normalized ratio (INR), aspartate aminotransferase (SGOT), alanine aminotransferase (SGPT), g-glutamyl-transpeptidase (gGT), alkaline phosphatase, total serum proteins, albumin and bilirubin.

Introduction: Celecoxib in a dose of 200 mg is safe for the breast feeding mother, as its milk levels are extremely low. We investigated the efficacy of celecoxib in improving postoperative pain management in parturients under patient-controlled epidural analgesia (PCEA).

Material And Methods: We studied 64 healthy parturients undergoing elective caesarean section under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia.

We report a case of endobronchial metastasis from prostate adenocarcinoma. A patient with a history of prostate cancer under complete androgen blockade presented to the respiratory department complaining of dyspnea and dry coughing. Flexible bronchoscopy showed multiple polypoid lesions in the tracheobronchial tree and the immunohistochemical studies on the biopsy specimen determined the diagnosis.

Aims: The aim of the study is to assess pupil size changes and mobility evaluation as a diagnostic marker in patients with probable Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Material And Methods: Twenty-three control subjects and 23 patients with probable AD entered the study. The latter patients had been under observation for 2 years and had undergone all necessary examinations to verify their initial diagnosis.

Epitope H contains an O-linked N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) residue in a specific conformation and/or environment recognized by monoclonal antibody H (mAbH). We have previously shown that epitope H is present in more than one polypeptide and in various types of normal and pathological cells. In the present study, we focused on uterine smooth muscle cell tumors and their adjacent normal myometrium to gain further insight into the expression patterns of epitope H in human tissues.
