[Leucocyte adhesion deficiency: detection of the first cases in Paraguay].

Objective: To implement the diagnostic technique for LAD by evaluating the expression of CD18 and CD15 in healthy patients and in a group with clinical suspicion.

Methods: Observational, descriptive, and cross-secctional study, carried out in pediatric patients attended in the Instituto de Investigaciones en Ciencias de la Salud, and patients from public hospitals with clinical suspicion of LAD were studied. The molecules CD18 and CD15 in peripheral blood leukocytes was evaluated by flow cytometry, establishing a normal range in healthy patients.

Effect of gluten-free diet on levels of soluble CD14 and lipopolysaccharide-binding protein in adult patients with celiac disease.

Introduction: Celiac disease (CD) is an autoimmune enteropathy triggered by gluten ingestion in genetically susceptible individuals. In CD, activation of the immune response causes damage of the intestinal mucosa, and a gluten-free diet (GFD) is the only available therapy. Intestinal damage can lead to an increase in the circulation of components of bacteria from the intestinal lumen, such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

[Anti-transglutaminase antibody in adults with celiac disease and their relation to the presence and duration of gluten-free diet].

Unlabelled: IgA anti-transglutaminase 2 (tTG2) antibody is a relevant marker in celiac disease. The utility of IgA anti-tTG2 determination is well established for the diagnosis, however their use in the follow-up of patients with gluten free diet (GFD) it is not fully established.

Objective: To determine IgA anti-tTG2 antibody levels in adult Paraguayan celiac disease patients and its relation to the presence and duration of the GFD.
