: Accurate prediction of neurorehabilitation outcomes following Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) is crucial for optimizing healthcare resource allocation and improving rehabilitation strategies. Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) may identify complex prognostic factors in patients with SCI. However, the influence of psychological variables on rehabilitation outcomes remains underexplored despite their potential impact on recovery success.

This study aimed monitoring the in vitro gene expression of pro- (IFN- γ; TNF-α; IL-12) and anti-inflammatory (IL-4; IL-6; IL-10) cytokines in primary canine macrophages infected by L.

Low mortality and high morbidity are the hallmarks of BCoV infection, usually associated with substantial economic losses for the livestock industry. Vaccination, combined with the implementation of biosecurity measures, is the key strategy for the prevention of infections.

However, characterizing them can be difficult due to overlapping culture features and the limited information on their susceptibility to antibiotics. In this study, 97 foreskin and 13 vaginal swabs were investigated using a culturomic approach.

The bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) causes abortion, calf mortality and poor reproductive performance in cattle. Due the difficulties of in vitro cultivation for HCV, BVDV has been used as surrogate for in vitro assessment of the efficacy of antivirals.

The aim of this study was to investigate trends in the minimum inhibitory concentration and resistance (R) or reduced susceptibility (DS) of Ng cases to ceftriaxone (CRO), azithromycin (AZM), tetracycline (TET), benzylpenicillin (PenG), and ciprofloxacin (CIP) during a 10-year period.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis on an open cohort of Ng cases diagnosed on rectal, urethral, and pharyngeal samples at San Raffaele Scientific Institute, between September 2012 and February 2023.
Sexual intercourse is a well-established way of transmission of mpox infection. However, it is still uncertain whether semen may represent a viral reservoir. The aim of the study was to evaluate the clearance of viral DNA in semen samples from individuals diagnosed with mpox infection over 6-month follow-up.

Design: PWH who received MVA-BN, with HIV-RNA less than 50 copies/ml, and CD4 + lymphocytes at least 200 cells/μl in the 6 months prior to vaccination and at least 1 HIV-RNA determination within 3 months from vaccination.
Methods: The primary outcome was occurrence of viral blips (1 HIV-RNA ≥50 copies/ml) and CVF (1 HIV-RNA ≥1000 copies/ml or ≥2 consecutive HIV-RNA ≥50 copies/ml) following MVA-BN.
Mpox caused a worldwide outbreak in 2022, disproportionately affecting MSM reporting high-risk sexual behaviors. The aim of this study was to compare the characteristics of people receiving MVA-BN vaccination with those of individuals diagnosed with mpox to guide future vaccination policies. This was a retrospective study on people with mpox infection or vaccination at San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy, from May to November 2022.

Introduction: Perinatal stroke includes a heterogeneous group of early focal neurological injuries affecting subsequent brain development, often resulting in motor sequelae, symptomatic epilepsies, and cognitive, language and behavioral impairment. The incidence of perinatal stroke is about 1/3500 live birth.
Evidence Acquisition: A PubMed and SCOPUS search strategy included the entries "neonatal ischemic stroke" OR "perinatal ischemic stroke" and the age of the filter under 18 years and January 2000-August 2022.
Leishmania tarentolae is a non-pathogenic species first isolated from geckoes in the Mediterranean basin. The finding that dogs test positive against both Leishmania infantum and L. tarentolae raises questions regarding the ability of the latter species to persist and adapt to new hosts.

Using the Nanopore platform, we determined the whole genome sequence of an H3N8 equine influenza virus, identified from a 2005 outbreak in Apulia, Italy, whose origin had remained epidemiologically unexplained. The virus was tightly related (>99% at the nucleotide level) in all the genome segments to viruses identified in Poland in 2005-2008 and it was seemingly introduced locally with horse trading for the meat industry.

Concerns have been previously expressed regarding the risks of dog trade in spreading zoonotic pathogens in Nigeria. However, the role of these dogs in disseminating highly pathogenic canine viruses has not yet been explored.

Origin and propagation of periodontal disease is believed to be caused by dysbiosis of the commensal oral microbiota. The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of bacteria in the pulp cavity of teeth with severe periodontal disease with clinically intact external surface.

Primary apical periodontitis (PAP) is associated with untreated necrotic root canal and can be efficiently treated with endodontic treatment to remove bacteria. Persistent/secondary apical periodontitis (SAP) is a perpetual periapical lesion due to unsuccessfully treated root canals after an initial apparent healing of the tooth.
