- The study aimed to investigate how common liver fibrosis (LF) is in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients treated with methotrexate (MTX) using FibroScan and the APRI index.
- Researchers analyzed data from 59 RA patients on MTX, looking at their treatment history and liver health markers related to the total dose of methotrexate received.
- Results showed that while five patients had signs of LF using FibroScan, only one showed it using APRI; importantly, LF occurrence did not significantly relate to the cumulative dose of MTX or the duration of treatment.
