Background: Psychiatric disorder diagnoses are linked to long-term socioeconomic 'shadows' into adulthood, but little is known about how these diagnoses are associated with adulthood payment problems in Norway and whether these associations are moderated by parental and area characteristics.

Methods: We combine Norwegian registry data with payment problem records from the public debt enforcement agency for the 1995-1997 birth cohorts (n=173 750). We ascertain behavioural, neurotic, mood and substance use disorder diagnoses from specialised care at ages 13-17.

Background And Purpose: The primary cause of range uncertainty in proton therapy is inaccuracy in estimating the stopping-power ratio from computed tomography. This study examined the impact on dose-volume metrics by reducing range uncertainty in robust optimisation for a diverse patient cohort and determined the level of range uncertainty that resulted in a relevant reduction in doses to organs-at-risk (OARs).

Materials And Methods: The effect of reducing range uncertainty on OAR doses was evaluated by robustly optimising six proton plans with varying range uncertainty levels (ranging from 3.

Purpose: Conventional vaginal strain ultrasound elastography, not based on shear-wave elastography imaging, can assess the biomechanical properties of the uterine cervix. This assessment may inform the risks of preterm birth and failed induction of labor. However, there is considerable variation in the approaches to strain elastography, including the placement of the region of interest (ROI).

Background And Purpose: Proton therapy for breast cancer is usually given in free breathing (FB). With the use of deep inspiration breath-hold (DIBH) technique, the location of the heart is displaced inferiorly, away from the internal mammary nodes and, thus, the dose to the heart can potentially be reduced. The aim of this study was to explore the potential benefit of proton therapy in DIBH compared to FB for highly selected patients to reduce exposure of the heart and other organs at risk.

The concept that the culprit lesion in non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) is caused by sudden plaque rupture with acute thrombus formation has recently been challenged. While angiography is an old gold-standard for culprit identification it merely visualizes the lumen contour. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) provides a detailed view of culprit features.

Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is defined by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) as the presence of an exposed bone area in the maxillofacial region, present for more than eight weeks in patients treated with the use of antiresorptive or antiangiogenic agents, with no history of radiation or metastatic disease. Bisphosphonates (BF) and denosumab (DS) are widely used in adults for the management of patients with cancer and osteoporosis, and recently there has been an increase in their use in child and young patients for the management of disorders such as osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS), malignant hypercalcemia, and others. There are differences between case reports in adults compared to child and young patients related to the use of antiresorptive/antiangiogenic drugs and the development of MRONJ.

Knowledge is lacking regarding how organizational factors are associated with uncertainty in patient treatment. Thus, the aim of the current study was to investigate how competence development and collaborative climate relates to job performance and job commitment, and further whether job performance and job commitment relate to uncertainty. Additionally, we examined whether these associations differed between four different hospitals.

We investigated whether prior use of antibiotics affects the risk of mecillinam/trimethoprim/nitrofurantoin/multi-resistant urinary tract infection (UTI) among elderly patients in general practice. Data on urine culture came from urine samples performed in general practice and sent to hospitals in the Capital Region of Denmark, and prescription data came from a nationwide prescription database. The study population consisted of patients with UTI episodes ( = 41,027) caused by that received a concurrent antibiotic prescription against UTI from 2012 to 2017.

Aims: The development of effective interventions to reduce inappropriate use of antibiotics in the elderly population requires knowledge on who can benefit from such interventions. Thus, we aimed to identify and characterise antibiotic heavy users among elderly patients in general practice with respect to sociodemographic variables.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective nationwide register-based study on all Danish elderly citizens (⩾65 years) who redeemed an antibiotic prescription in 2017.

Background And Purpose: Cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) malfunctions can be induced by secondary neutron dose from spot-scanning proton therapy. A recent in-vitro study investigating secondary neutron dose to CIEDs up to 7 mSv per fraction found that exposure of secondary neutrons in this range was clinically manageable. This study presents decision algorithms proposed by a national expert group for selection of patients with breast and head & neck (H&N) cancer with CIEDs adjacent to target for proton therapy based on the 7 mSv threshold.

Characteristics of bottom sediments in lake mesocosms 11 years after starting the experiment were studied in order to determine the effects of nutrient loading, temperature increase and vegetation type on concentration and vertical distribution of phosphorus (P) forms. The experimental setup consisted of 24 outdoor flow-through mesocosms with two nutrient treatments - low (L) and high (H) and 3 temperature levels - ambient (T0), heated by 2-4 °C (T1) and 3-6 °C (T2) in four replicates. Thickness of the organic sediment was measured and the sediment analysed for dry weight, organic matter, and P fractions (according to a sequential extraction scheme) and organic P compounds (by P nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy).

Introduction: In this feasibility study, we hypothesize that the evaluation of cervical biomechanical strength can be improved if cervical length measurement is supplemented with quantitative elastography, which is a technique based on conventional ultrasound elastography combined with a force-measuring device. Our aims were to: (a) develop a force-measuring device; (b) introduce a cervical elastography index (CEI) and a cervical strength index (CSI; defined as cervical length × CEI); (c) evaluate how these indexes assess the cervical softening that takes place during normal pregnancy; and (d) how these indexes predict the cervical dilatation time from 4 to 10 cm.

Material And Methods: An electronic force-measuring device was mounted on the handle of the transvaginal probe, allowing for force measurement when conducting elastography.

Coastal sands are biocatalytic filters for dissolved and particulate organic matter of marine and terrestrial origin, thus, acting as centers of organic matter transformation. At high temporal resolution, we accessed the variability of benthic bacterial communities over two annual cycles at Helgoland (North Sea), and compared it with seasonality of communities in Isfjorden (Svalbard, 78°N) sediments, where primary production does not occur during winter. Benthic community structure remained stable in both, temperate and polar sediments on the level of cell counts and 16S rRNA-based taxonomy.

Background: The risk for cardiovascular adverse events after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains high despite potent medical treatment including low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) lowering with statins. Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) antibodies substantially reduce LDL-C when added to statin. Alirocumab, a monoclonal antibody to PCSK9, reduces major adverse cardiovascular events after AMI.

Background: Cognitive functions have been associated with white matter (WM) microstructure in schizophrenia, but most studies are limited by examining only select cognitive measures and single WM tracts in chronic, medicated patients. It is unclear if the cognition-WM relationship differs between antipsychotic-naïve patients with schizophrenia and healthy controls, as differential associations have not been directly examined. Here we examine if there are differential patterns of associations between cognition and WM microstructure in first-episode antipsychotic-naïve patients with schizophrenia and healthy controls, and we characterize reliable contributors to the pattern of associations across multiple cognitive domains and WM regions, in order to elucidate white matter contribution to the neural underpinnings of cognitive deficits.
