Inversions are balanced structural variants that often remain undetected in genetic diagnostics. We present a female proband with a de novo Chromosome 15 paracentric inversion, disrupting MEIS2 and NUSAP1. The inversion was detected by short-read genome sequencing and confirmed with adaptive long-read sequencing.

Prenatal DNA tests, such as chromosomal microarray analysis or exome sequencing, increase the likelihood of receiving a diagnosis when fetal structural anomalies are identified. Objectives: To conduct qualitative interviews with healthcare providers working in different countries to understand their experiences of dealing with uncertain results from prenatal chromosome microarray analysis (CMA) and exome sequencing (ES).

Methods: Semi-structured interviews with 31 healthcare providers who report or return prenatal CMA and/or ES results (clinicians, genetic counsellors and clinical scientists) in six countries with differing healthcare systems; Australia (4), Denmark (5), Netherlands (6), Singapore (4), Sweden (6) and United Kingdom (6). Adenocarcinomas of the kidney are rare childhood tumors. Only 30 cases with chromosomal abnormalities have been reported, and neither their karyotypic characteristics nor the molecular mechanisms behind their pathogenesis are clear, except for a special group of papillary tumors characterized by X-chromosome abnormalities. We have cytogenetically analyzed short-term cultured cells from two pediatric renal carcinomas, one papillary, and one chromophobe renal cell carcinoma, revealing the following karyotypes: 58-60,XX,-X,-1,+7,-8,-9,-11,-14,-15,+17,-18,-19,-21,-22 and 36,X,-X,-1,-2,-5,-6,-9,-10,-13,-17,-21/37,idem,+r/36,idem,-14,+1-2r, respectively.
