Background: Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of morbidity in an aging HIV population. However, risk estimation with the most frequent equations usually classifies HIV patients as having a low or moderate risk. Several studies have described a very high prevalence of subclinical atherosclerosis in a middle-aged, non-HIV population.

Adaptation process and psychometric validation of the instrument included translation and back-translation, content validity, test-retest reliability, internal consistency, and construct validity. A total of 134 nursing homes belonging to the same religious order were randomly selected from seven Spanish-speaking countries with a sample of 378 nurses.

Methods: biofilms were cultivated on enamel and root dentin slabs, in culture media containing different proportions of saliva (/): 0%, 5%, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% saliva, and exposed to a 10% sucrose solution (5 min, 3x/day), with appropriate controls.
Objective: The primary endpoint of the study was to determine the proportion of patients with HIV RNA < 50 copies/mL at 48 weeks. Design: Phase IV, multicentric, open-label, single-arm clinical trial of participants recruited in 2018−2019 to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tenofovir alafenamide/emtricitabine/elvitegravir-cobicistat (TAF/FTC/EVG-c) as first-line treatment in HIV-1 infected naïve participants with advanced disease. Methods: Adverse events were graded according to the Division of AIDS scale version 2.

Most compounds selectively bind AAR, with a number of potent and selective antagonists further confirmed by functional cyclic adenosine monophosphate experiments. The series was analyzed with one of the most exhaustive free energy perturbation studies on a GPCR, obtaining an accurate model of the structure-activity relationship of this chemotype.

Despite its aggressive extension and significant morbidity and mortality, risk factors are poorly characterized outside China. We designed a registry, HOPE COVID-19 (NCT04334291), assessing data of 1021 patients discharged (dead or alive) after COVID-19, from 23 hospitals in 4 countries, between 8 February and 1 April.

Pa tients and Method: Retrospective, multicenter, observational study of data from the Latin American Registry of Acute Pediatric Respiratory Failure. We included children under 2 years of age admitted to the PICU due to community-based acute bronchiolitis between May and September 2017.

However, its intramuscular (IM) administration is associated with pain at the site of injection. The dilution of PGB with local anesthetics is recommended in some guidelines, but the evidence that supports it, particularly in adults and in HIV infection, is scarce.

Clinicians are encouraged to avoid FO; however, strategies to avoid FO are not well-described in pediatrics. Our aim was to implement a bundle strategy to prevent FO in children with sepsis and pARDS and to compare the outcomes with a historical cohort.

The metastasis of said cancer involves a rise for morbidity, metastasizing 90% of the occasions on bone. Metalloproteinases (MMPs) are involved in the process of bone formation and they are postulated to be involved in the process of metastasizing, in particular MMP-9.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAntral follicle count (AFC) is a reliable predictor of ovarian response to stimulation and its inter-cycle and inter-observer variability has been extensively studied on in vitro fertilization (IVF), mostly in highly selected populations within studies not originally designed for this purpose. In this retrospective cohort study, we assess the inter-cycle variation of AFC in a setting similar to that of the daily practice. We included only patients undergoing mild stimulation for intrauterine insemination (IUI).

However, the decision-making that occurs at the end of life is a difficult experience for the families of patients. With regard to decision-making in the terminal stages, few studies have explored the experiences and feelings of caregivers of persons with dementia who are institutionalized.

Design: Observational prospective study.
Setting: IVF clinic/hospital facilities.
Aims: The aim is to study the prevalence and possible relationship of apathy and leukoaraiosis in cases of cognitive impairment of varying severity in Spain.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional, descriptive, multicenter study involving 109 patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and 59 with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
Results: The older group with AD had a higher prevalence of leukoaraiosis and apathy, with significant differences compared to the MCI group.
Our objective was to investigate the miRNA profile of embryonic tissues in ectopic pregnancies (EPs) and controlled abortions (voluntary termination of pregnancy; VTOP). Twenty-three patients suffering from tubal EP and twenty-nine patients with a normal ongoing pregnancy scheduled for a VTOP were recruited. Embryonic tissue samples were analyzed by miRNA microarray and further validated by real time PCR.

A focused library of new benzimidazoles obtained by a Ugi+Boc removal/cyclization reaction sequence generated low-micromolar-range KSP inhibitors as promising anticancer prototypes. The design and functional studies of the new chemotypes were assessed by computational modeling and molecular biology techniques.

Purpose: This study was designed to examine HRR following a controlled maximal exercise test in healthy, physically active adult men.
Methods: The subjects recruited (n = 789) performed a maximal stress test on a treadmill.
Our objective was to determine the expression of the elements of the Lin28/Let-7 system, and related microRNAs (miRNAs), in early stages of human placentation and ectopic pregnancy, as a means to assess the potential role of this molecular hub in the pathogenesis of ectopic gestation. Seventeen patients suffering from tubal ectopic pregnancy (cases) and forty-three women with normal on-going gestation that desired voluntary termination of pregnancy (VTOP; controls) were recruited for the study. Embryonic tissues were subjected to RNA extraction and quantitative PCR analyses for LIN28B, Let-7a, miR-132, miR-145 and mir-323-3p were performed.

During periods of psychological stress, excess amounts of free radicals are produced. Bilirubin oxidative metabolites (biopyrrins; BOM) are generated from bilirubin as a result of its scavenging action against free radicals. We investigated whether the urinary excretion of biopyrrins is altered by anxiolytics.

The triple interaction diet × time × packaging affected oxidative stability, redness and yellowness of the meat. TBARS values did not increase with time in vacuum-packaged samples for all dietary treatments.
