Management of an Infected Vesicourachal Diverticulum in a 42-Year-Old Woman.

Urachal remnant anomalies are uncommon in adults and can be confused with a variety of clinical conditions when symptomatic or infected. Vesicourachal diverticulum is the rarest type, accounting for approximately 3% to 5% of congenital urachal anomalies. We report the case of a 42-year-old female patient, who presented to the emergency department with lower abdominal pain and a palpable abdominal mass.

Complete Surgical Enucleation of a Giant Chylous Mesenteric Cyst.

Mesenteric cysts are rare benign abdominal tumors, and they can appear anywhere in the mesentery of the gastrointestinal tract, from the duodenum to the rectum. They are generally asymptomatic and may present as an incidental finding. The diagnosis is confirmed by the laparotomy findings and the results of the histopathological examination.

A Case of Lymphangioma of the Anal Canal.

Lymphangiomas are unusual benign malformations, which can often be misdiagnosed due to their relatively mild and nonspecific symptomatology. Their appearance in the anal canal is extremely rare. Correct diagnosis is necessary for formulating appropriate management.

Multiple small intestinal perforations in a patient with Hepatitis B Virus-associated Polyarteritis Nodosa.

We present the case of a 38-year-old patient with a history of Hepatitis B Virus-associated Polyarteritis Nodosa, who presented with acute abdomen and septic shock. The patient initially had three perforations of the small intestine that were treated with segmental enterectomy and anastomosis at two sites. During his postoperative course he continued to develop new perforations and necrotic lesions along the whole length of the small intestine, that mandated repetitive laparotomies and the technique of the open abdomen was employed.

Colocutaneous Fistula after Open Inguinal Hernia Repair.

The plug-and-patch technique is frequently used for the open repair of inguinal hernias; however, serious complications may arise on rare occasions. We present the case of a 69-year-old patient who presented with a colocutaneous fistula with the sigmoid colon 9 years after the repair of a left sliding inguinal hernia with the plug-and-patch technique. The patient underwent sigmoidectomy and excision of the fistulous track.

Prevalence of cryptosporidian infection in cats in Turin and analysis of risk factors.

An epidemiological study was carried out to identify factors associated with the risk of cryptosporidian infection in cats. Faecal samples from 200 domestic cats were collected in the small animal clinic at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Turin (north-west Italy). The faecal samples were analysed for the presence of Cryptosporidium species oocysts using a centrifugation concentration floatation method.
