The proper management of pediatric type 1 diabetes depends substantially on the parents of affected children. Parental psychological traits specifically related to diabetes caregiving influence the quality of their care and management of the disease in their children. Parents often use Facebook groups as sources of peer support and information about diabetes care.

Generation Gaps in Digital Health Literacy and Their Impact on Health Information Seeking Behavior and Health Empowerment in Hungary.

Today the internet is a major source of health information, and younger generations have more confidence in their digital information seeking skills and awareness of online resources than older generations. Older generations, however, are more in demand of health services. The aim of our study was to explore these generational differences as related to self-perceived eHealth literacy and health care system utilization.

Tobacco plant as possible biomonitoring tool of red mud dust fallout and increased natural radioactivity.

Exposure to toxic heavy metal content in soil and inherent naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM) needs to be monitored, especially after industrial accidents and remediation efforts. Just such an accident happened near Ajka city in Hungary; a large quantity of red mud flooded out from a reservoir. The afflicted area was remediated, and the red mud deposition technology was changed from a wet to a dry procedure.

Vitamin D (vitD) insufficiency affects 1 billion people worldwide. Androgen excess (AE) occurs in 8% of fertile females. There are few data about the combined effect of vitD deficiency and AE on the early biomechanical changes of cerebral arterioles in fertile-aged female.

Enrichment of naturally occurring radionuclides and trace elements in Yatagan and Yenikoy coal-fired thermal power plants, Turkey.

Coal, residues and waste produced by the combustion of the coal contain naturally occurring radionuclides such as U, Ra, Pb, Th and K and trace elements such as Cd, Cr, Pb, Ni and Zn. In this work, coal and its combustion residues collected from Yatagan and Yenikoy coal fired thermal power plants (CPPs) in Turkey were studied to determine the concentrations of natural radionuclides and trace elements, and their enrichments factors to better understand the radionuclide concentration processes within the combustion system. In addition, the utilization of coal fly ash as a secondary raw material in building industry was also studied in terms of radiological aspects.

Determination of Po-210 content in cigarette smoke using a smoking machine: A case study of Iranian cigarettes.

The Po-210 content of tobacco has been known for a long time, however, different results can be found about the estimated amount of Po-210 that is inhaled by humans as a result of smoking cigarettes. Because of the unique properties of Po-210, the smoking machines available on the market are not suitable because of their failure to quantitatively collect Po-210 for measurement. Therefore, to estimate precisely the amount of Po-210 entering the lungs as a result of smoking, a smoking machine and sampling protocol based on relevant ISO standards - ISO-3308, ISO-3402 and ISO-4387 - was developed.

[Effect of a new dietary supplement on sperm quality].

Introduction: There is a decline in male fertility thus new treatments are needed.

Aims: To test the efficacy of a new dietary supplement developed in the USA and registered as a drug of cure in Hungary (OGYI).

Methods: In a clinical trial 100 men with low sperm quality (spermium count 5-20 M/ml, good motility 10-40%, and adverse shape 30-50%) were examined.
