The mountain context represents a suitable setting for promoting health. In view of the Olympic Games, which are expected to take place in the Dolomites area in 2026, the outdoor Alpine environment must continue to meet all the health and safety requirements. Our recent experience, implemented in this area since summer 2024 through the Prevention Department of the Local Health Authority ULSS 1 Dolomiti, aims to encourage multi-sector preventive public health policies, in order to improve the "Shelters" ("rifugi", in Italian) hygiene, to strengthen the safety requirements, and to implement preventive projects.

Methods: Anti-SARS-CoV-2 NC antibodies were detected using the Abbott SARS-CoV-2 IgG assay. Samples that gave a negative result were re-tested using the Liaison SARS-CoV-2 IgG assay to assess anti-spike (S) S1/S2 antibodies.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjectives: A seroprevalence study of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was conducted in a high-incidence area located in northeastern Italy.
Methods: All citizens above 10 years of age resident in five municipalities of the Autonomous Province of Trento, with the highest incidence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, were invited to participate in the study. Among 6098 participants, 6075 sera and a standardized questionnaire administered face-to-face were collected between 5 May and 15 May 2020 and examined.
Estimates of childhood overweight and obesity for the Province of Trento provided by the 2014 "OKkio alla SALUTE" survey (Italian national surveillance system for weight and nutrition in children) were compared with estimates provided by paediatric health forms. The Province of Trento is the only region that makes use of the information gathered through these forms, which are completed by primary care paediatricians as part of the 6-year health evaluation. OKkio alla SALUTE data for children, obtained from students enrolled in the third year of primary school in 2014 (845 children aged 8-9 years), were compared with data collected at the age of 6 for cohorts born in 2006, evaluated in 2012-2013 (3101 subjects).
