Furthermore, this article aims to relate these histological alterations to the auditory changes generated.

Methods: Cochlear implantation was performed, following the principles of minimally traumatic surgery (MTS), in 15 ears of nonhuman primates (Macaca fascicularis) (Mf) with normal hearing.

As an illustrative model case, here, we investigated the evolution of the stability of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) protease (PR), which is a common HIV-1 drug target, under diverse evolutionary scenarios that include (1) intra-host virus evolution in a cohort of seventy-five patients sampled over time, (2) intra-host virus evolution sampled before and after specific PR-based treatments, and (3) inter-host evolution considering extant and ancestral (reconstructed) PR sequences from diverse HIV-1 subtypes.

The repair of the programmed DNA double strand breaks that initiate meiotic recombination requires two DNA strand-exchange proteins, RAD51 and DMC1, to search for and invade an intact DNA molecule on the homologous chromosome. The task of retrieving information about past flood events is very important to reconstruct flood series data. In this work, a wide range of different sources including newspapers, technical reports, and books was consulted in order to recover information about catastrophic flood events in Badajoz (Spain). A set of 37 catastrophic floods of the Guadiana River that occurred in Badajoz in the winter months (DJFM - December, January, February, and March) have been recovered since 1500 CE.

Climate proxy data are required for improved understanding of climate variability and change in the pre-instrumental period. We present the first international initiative to compile and share information on pro pluvia rogation ceremonies, which is a well-studied proxy of agricultural drought. Currently, the database has more than 3500 dates of celebration of rogation ceremonies, providing information for 153 locations across 11 countries spanning the period from 1333 to 1949.

We report a case of a symptomatic forearm deformity due to a premature distal ulnar fracture solved by 3D custom made cutting guides. Our patient is a sixteen years old girl referred to us due to a forearm deformity and a dysplasic ulnar head associated to pain at the dorsum of the distal ulna and at the radial head at the elbow. Using custom-made cutting guides on a 3D model, a both bone forearm osteotomy was performed.
