Subjects: Histopathologic analysis of an enucleated eye from a 63-year-old woman diagnosed with Jalili syndrome.
Purpose: Recently, an 'hyperreflective ganglion cell layer band' (HGB) has been described on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) in a subset of patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP). This study aims to validate and describe the frequency of HGB in a large cohort of Portuguese patients with RP.
Methods: This single-centre, cross-sectional cohort study included consecutive patients with a genetic diagnosis of RP.
Purpose: This study was designed based on the need to verify the effectiveness of education in the vocology area concerning refining perceptual auditory skills. The purpose of the project described in this paper was to examine the effect of knowledge and skills training during a 2-week voice disorders graduate course on auditory-perceptual skills of pre-professional speech-language pathologists. Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a complex neuropsychiatric syndrome that results from liver failure and is characterized by a wide range of symptoms such as alteration in the sleep-waking cycle, neuromuscular coordination, mood, and cognition. The deregulation of nitric oxide (NO)/cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)/protein kinase G (PKG) signaling pathway is thought to play an important role in the etiology and progression of neurodegenerative diseases, and several studies pointed that the cGMP signaling is impaired in patients with HE and experimental models of chronic hyperammonemia. Methods: Mice received intraperitoneal injections of TAA, for 3 consecutive days, reaching the final dose of 600 mg/kg.
