Pregnancy outcomes in patients with portal cavernoma: A case series study.

Objective: Non-cirrhotic portal vein cavernoma (PVC) is a cause of portal hypertension (PH) frequently affecting women of childbearing age. Cavernous transformation of the portal vein is frequently associated with prothrombotic disorders and often entails multiple hemodynamic changes, porto-collateral shunt development and thrombopenia, all of which can affect the course of pregnancy. Our aim was to evaluate the risk of PH-related complications and pregnancy outcomes in patients with PVC.

Checklist: A Useful and Safe Tool for the Initiation of Care for Eutocical Vaginal Delivery.

The aim of this study is to present and analyze the vaginal delivery checklist as a safe and useful learning tool for first-year residents in the gynecology and obstetrics and midwifery specialties at different hospitals and to analyze the items that comprise it and the progress of the residents during the first 30 normal deliveries attended in a supervised manner. We present a descriptive, observational and prospective study in which 18 participants from different hospitals in Spain completed a checklist of skills in the first 30 births attended autonomously after learning its use in a simulation workshop. We collected a total of 329 of 330 checklists completed by 11 participants.

As optical two-dimensional coherent spectroscopy (2DCS) is extended to a broader range of applications, it is critical to improve the detection sensitivity of optical 2DCS. We developed a fast phase-cycling scheme in a non-collinear optical 2DCS implementation by using liquid crystal phase retarders to modulate the phases of two excitation pulses. The background in the signal can be eliminated by combining either two or four interferograms measured with a proper phase configuration.

Translation and adaptation of three English tinnitus patient-reported outcome measures to Spanish.

The objective of this study was to improve the range of standardised tinnitus Spanish Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS) available by translating and ensuring cross-cultural adaptation of three English PROMs to Spanish. The Tinnitus and Hearing Survey, Tinnitus Cognition Questionnaire, and Tinnitus Qualities Questionnaire were translated to Spanish using recently established good practice guidelines. The translation process addressed 22 items included in six main steps specified in the guidelines.

The research reported in this Research Communication evaluates the effect of milk acidification on the physicochemical and sensory properties of Licor de Oro (or Gold Liqueur; LO), a traditional alcoholic beverage produced in Chiloé island, Chile, which is made by mixing milk acidified with lemon juice and alcohol at a ratio of 1.0:1.0, along with sugar and other spices.

Epidemiological surveillance and wild-type MIC distribution of Legionella pneumophila in north-western Spain. 2003-2016.

Purpose: To perform epidemiological surveillance of Legionella pneumophila in recreational swimming pools in the city of Valladolid (Spain), an area with a continental climate and low incidence of legionella-associated infections. Additionally, wild-type minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) distributions for eight antibiotics commonly used for the treatment of legionellosis were calculated from the isolates obtained.
