Long peripheral catheters for intravenous infusions of iloprost or alprostadil therapy in rheumatologic outpatients.

Background: Long peripheral catheters (LPCs) role in Difficult IntraVenous Access (DIVA) patients admitted to the emergency department has already been studied, resulting in a rapid, safe, and cost-effective procedure. Although their use in outpatient settings is established, there is a lack of studies assessing their benefits. In particular, rheumatologic outpatients affected by scleroderma, especially those affected by digital ulcers, are often treated with intravenous infusions of prostaglandin I (PGI) analog (IV-PGIA).

Immunological Profiles in Parry-Romberg Syndrome: A Case-Control Study.

: Parry-Romberg syndrome (PRS) is a rare craniofacial disorder. The aim of this study is to provide information on the immunological profile of this pathology. Since PRS can be included in a wider spectrum of sclerodermic diseases, we propose a case-control study comparing a patient affected by PRS with one with a diagnosis of scleroderma, herein used as control (CTR).

Sclerodermic hand: a retrospective study on the role of ultrasonography in the detection of subclinical joint involvement.

Introduction: The inflammatory involvement of joints and tendons is common in Systemic Sclerosis (SSc). Ultrasonography (US) is a non-invasive tool commonly applied for the assessment of the main inflammatory arthropathies and could be also used in identifying pathological features in SSc patients, even without clinical evidence of joint complaint. So, the aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of US pathological features in a cohort of SSc patients and assessed the role of US in the detection of subclinical joint involvement.

Fibromyalgia: one year in review 2022.

Fibromyalgia syndrome (FM) is a chronic widespread pain syndrome characterised by fatigue, sleep disturbances and many idiopathic pain symptoms. The aim of this review is to describe and summarise the most recent findings concerning the diagnosis, aetiopathogenesis and treatment of fibromyalgia syndrome published between January 2021 and January 2022 and appearing on PubMed database. In particular, last year's literature focused on the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on FM patients, on new aetiopathogenetic horizons and the last conclusions about pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
