Reductive cleavage of methyl 3,4-O-benzylidene-α-L-fucopyranosides with BH·THF-TfOH and NaCNBH-TfOH systems resulted in enhanced reaction rates and selectivity compared to BH·THF-BuBOTf. With this latter system, the nature of the O-2 substituent exerted a clear control on the reactivity but practically did not affect the regioselectivity. With TfOH the direction of cleavage was determined, as expected, by the configuration of the acetal carbon atom, but slightly influenced by its competitive epimerization.

Background: Orthopedic surgery in children with cerebral palsy (CP) aims to improve function and prevent deformities. Each child's condition in CP is unique and many co-variables influence surgical decision-making including a patient's age and their functional level. Little is known about the frequency of different types of orthopedic surgery in children with CP who have varied functional levels, particularly in countries from Latin America.

In this paper we describe an immunoenzymatic assay based on a rat monoclonal antibody (Ram kappa) developed to determine mouse IgG concentration, which is widely used for samples obtained on purification processes, like supernatant waste and the content of IgG in the vaccine (rHBsAg). This assay involves the use of a rat antibody-horseradish peroxidase-conjugated for the revealing of the antigen-antibody reaction. The rat antibody was produced in cell culture using a dialysis tube (DT).
