Intrafollicular and Systemic Dopamine, Noradrenaline and Adrenaline Concentrations in Cycling Mares.

In some species, catecholamines in follicular fluid (FF) are related to local physiological events responsible for the regulation of ovarian functions and oocyte maturation. The aim of the present study was to determine and compare intrafollicular and systemic concentrations of dopamine (DA), noradrenaline (NA) and adrenaline (AD) in cycling mares. Sixty ovaries were collected during breeding season from 30 mares raised for slaughterhouse meat production, with clinically normal reproductive tracts, were evaluated.

Prevalence and Distribution of High-Risk Genotypes of HPV in Women with Severe Cervical Lesions in Madrid, Spain: Importance of Detecting Genotype 16 and Other High-Risk Genotypes.

Background. Persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) has been demonstrated to be the necessary causal factor for developing cervical cancer. To know the most prevalent HR-HPV in different geographical areas is important to design diagnostic tests and implementation of vaccines.

Determination of normalized values of the tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) in 405 Spanish children and adolescents.

Introduction And Objectives: Tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) is an echocardiographic measure that allows us to assess right ventricular systolic function. TAPSE measurement is common in adults but reference values for children are scarce. Our objective was to establish reference values for TAPSE in Spanish children and to determine the relationship of these values with age and body surface.

[Evaluation of a prototype real-time PCR assay for the separate detection of human papilloma virus genotypes 16 and 18 and other high risk human papillomavirus in cervical cancer screening].

Background: It has recently been confirmed that detection of DNA of human papilloma virus (HPV) is more useful than cytology in the screening for cervical cancer, especially if genotypes 16 and 18 are identified. Cobas 4800 is an automated system that detects 14 high risk HPV genotypes: genotypes 16 and 18 separately and 12 other high-risk genotypes pooled.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to compare the performance of the cobas 4800 HPV test against the hybrid capture 2 (HC2) and particularly in women in whom>CIN2 lesions are detected.

Gender differences in non-specific immune response to exercise in the lactate threshold: a study in equine athletes.

Gender differences have not been shown in relation to the immune system in athletic horses. The aim of the present paper was to elucidate gender differences in the non-specific immune response of the polymorphonuclear neutrophil (PMN), plasma glucose and in hormones before and after an exercise in the lactate threshold (LT). A group of 12 Anglo-Arabian horses (6 females and 6 males, 4-7 years old) was observed.

[Detection and genotyping of high-risk human papillomavirus in cervical specimens].

Introduction: This study investigates the relationship between various human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes and the results of cytological and histological analysis of cervical samples using two complementary assays for HPV detection (hybrid capture and PCR). We studied the impact of HPV genotype on the presence of pre-cancerous cervical lesions and cervical cancer, as well as the association between HPV viral load and the presence of high-risk HPV as determined by PCR.

Methods: A total of 272 women were studied.

P-glycoprotein (P-gp), the multidrug resistance gene (MDR-1) product is normally expressed at blood-brain-barrier.

The 5HT1A receptor agonist, 8-OH-DPAT, protects neurons and reduces astroglial reaction after ischemic damage caused by cortical devascularization.

Serotonin 1A (5HT1A) receptor agonists have shown neuroprotective properties in different models of central nervous system injury. Activation of neuronal 5HT1A receptors appears to be involved in the neuroprotective effects. It remains to be elucidated if astroglial cells are responsive to the 5HT1A neuroprotective effects.
