Objective: A new approach to evaluate whether Progestin-Primed Ovarian Stimulation with micronized vaginal progesterone was as effective as using dydrogesterone in suppress LH pulse surge in young women under stimulation in an oocyte donor programme.

Methods: This prospective study included 21 patients aged 19 to 32 years-old stimulated with Elonva® 150, associated or not with Menopur® or Merional® (75 or 150IU) since the beginning of the cycle, plus HMG 150-225IU after the 8th day or just HMG 150-300IU per day. Patients were placed in a PPOS protocol with micronized vaginal progesterone (MVP) 200 mg (Gynpro® Exeltis or Junno Farmoquimica) every 12 hours or dydrogesterone (Duphaston® Abbott) 10 mg every 8 hours from the start of stimulation until the day after the GnRH trigger with Triptorelin 0.

Preventing a luteinizing hormone (LH) surge is a major concern in controlled ovarian stimulation (COS). Several strategies have been developed over the years, including protocols with Gonadotrophin Releasing Hormone agonists and antagonists. More recently Progestin Primmed Ovarian Stimulation (PPOS) has shown to be equally effective in pituitary suppression, with comparable clinical and laboratorial outcomes.

  • The study aimed to assess how the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic affected assisted reproductive technology practices at centers in Latin America during 2020.
  • An online survey was conducted among fertility clinics from July to December 2020, revealing that most centers paused operations early in the pandemic, with the highest response rate from Brazil.
  • By December, almost all centers had reopened and resumed treatments, but the number of ART cycles performed remained significantly lower than pre-pandemic levels.

Hashimoto thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease characterized by hypothyroidism and a high level of anti-thyroid autoantibodies. It has shown to negatively impact female fertility; however, the mechanisms are unclear. Ovarian follicular fluid appears to be the key to understanding how Hashimoto thyroiditis affecst fertility.

  • The study investigated the use and outcomes of assisted reproductive technology (ART) in Latin America during 2020, analyzing data from 188 institutions across 16 countries.
  • A total of 87,732 ART cycles were initiated, resulting in 12,778 deliveries and showing significant regional contributions, particularly from Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina.
  • Key findings highlight that older women (≥40 years) increasingly used ART, with higher delivery rates associated with frozen embryo transfers and preimplantation genetic testing, while multiple births and perinatal mortality rates raised concerns.

  • A study analyzed the use, effectiveness, and safety of assisted reproductive technology (ART) in Latin America, collecting data from 188 institutions across 16 countries in 2020.
  • A total of 87,732 ART cycles led to 12,778 deliveries, with significant contributions from Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina; Uruguay had the highest cycles per million inhabitants.
  • The results indicated varying delivery rates depending on factors like age, type of embryo transfer, and use of preimplantation genetic testing, with multiple births and perinatal mortality rates increasing with certain transfer methods.

Objective: To describe the natural history of hydatidiform mole (HM) after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), emphasizing the clinical and oncological outcomes, as compared to patients who had HM after spontaneous conception (SC).

Study Design: Retrospective historical cohort study of patients with HM followed at the Rio de Janeiro Federal University, from January 1st 2000-December 31st 2020.

Results: Comparing singleton HM after SC to those following ICSI there were differences in terms of maternal age (24 vs 34 years, p < 0.

To conduct this review of primary care, we looked for related papers in PubMed from the last 15 years. WHO's initial concept of Health defined a condition of physical, mental, and social well-being, nowadays extended to quality of life. Infertility or not being able to form a family fits perfectly into the definition.

  • The study examined the utilization, effectiveness, and safety of assisted reproductive technology (ART) in Latin America in 2019, analyzing data from 196 institutions across 15 countries.
  • A total of 106,918 ART cycles were initiated, resulting in 18,133 deliveries and highlighting trends such as women over 40 accounting for a significant portion of cycles and varied success rates based on embryo transfer types.
  • The findings indicate a rise in ART usage linked to supportive regulations, with a recommendation for single-blastocyst transfers to optimize outcomes and minimize risks associated with multiple births.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of female obesity on the results of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) in six parameters: dose of gonadotropins required, number of oocytes retrieved and fertilization, pregnancy, miscarriage and live births rates.

Method: Literature search in PUBMED articles in English between 2008 and 2013 using the following keywords: female, obesity and In Vitro Fertilization. 15 articles were selected for this work.

  • The study analyzed trends in patient characteristics and outcomes of assisted reproductive technology (ART) in Latin America from 1990 to 2018, focusing on effectiveness and safety.
  • Over the three decades, there was a shift in the age of women undergoing ART, with a rising percentage of older women and an increase in single embryo transfers (SET), leading to higher delivery rates and fewer high-order multiples.
  • The findings underscore the success of the Latin American Registry of Assisted Reproduction (RLA) in promoting regional cooperation and technological advancement in the field of reproductive health.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been used in several areas of medicine due to its ability to promote tissue regeneration by growth factors and cytokines. This review addresses the use of PRP to rejuvenate ovarian follicles and increase the thickness of the endometrium to receive an embryo. PRP is obtained from the patient's own blood (autologous blood) - a fact that determines a lower chance of rejection reactions.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible impact of follicular flushing on the number of oocytes retrieved and oocytes in metaphase II in patients with poor ovarian response (POR) compared to direct aspiration.

Methods: This prospective, comparative, randomized single center study included 208 punctures of patients with POR, submitted to assisted reproduction technology (ART) treatments. Two groups were compared; one in which double lumen needles were used (Wallace DNS1733) for follicular flushing (n=105), and one in which single lumen needles were used (Wallace ONS1733) for direct aspiration (n=103), upon the observation of ≤ 5 follicles between 15-17 mm, ≤ 4 follicles with sizes greater than 18 mm on hCG day, and ≤ 7 recovered oocytes.

  • The study investigates the use, effectiveness, and safety of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) in 15 Latin American countries during 2017, based on data from 188 institutions.
  • Results showed 93,600 ART cycles led to 16,976 deliveries and 20,404 births, with notable statistics including a 19.9% delivery rate for ICSI and a 20.2% rate for IVF, especially among women aged 40 and over.
  • The research recommends elective single embryo transfer (SET) as the preferred practice when multiple blastocysts are available, to reduce risks associated with multiple births, such as higher perinatal mortality and preterm delivery rates.

Introduction: More than one million fertilization cycles are performed every year. The incidence of serious complications associated with transvaginal oocyte pick-up is low, but the procedure is not risk-free. Risks are inherent to procedures in which thin needles and sharp instruments are introduced into the vaginal wall and ovarian capsule to access the ovaries.
