To minimize the environmental impact of sea salt production and promote agricultural sustainability, studies on the reuse of marine gypsum have piqued interest in semi-arid regions. This study aimed to (a) verify the characteristics of marine gypsum, (b) analyze its agronomic potential for replacing agricultural gypsum as a nutrient source in acidic sandy soils, and (c) assess its effectiveness in recreating sodic soils. The study comprised two experiments: acidic sandy soil (Red Latosol) and sodic clayey soil (Fluvic Neosol).

Veterinary palliative care consists of end-of-life care of companion animals suffering from terminal or life-limiting diseases. Despite the growing need for veterinary palliative care, little research has been conducted on this topic. This perspective intends to provide an overview of the existing concerns and identify knowledge gaps to motivate further research.

A static farm economic pig production model (FEPM) was used on a representative 'Top-third' most profitable farm and a representative 'Mid-range' profitable farm. Three AMU theoretical management scenarios were investigated; (a) management changes leading to a reduction of AMU by 35% (AMU35); (b) more extensive management changes leading to a reduction of AMU by 95% (AMU95); and (c) implementing depopulation of the herd (AMU Depop).

Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most prevalent malignant brain tumor in children, known for its heterogeneity and treatment-associated toxicity, and there is a critical need for new therapeutic targets. We analyzed the somatic mutation profile of 15 driver genes in 69 Latin-Iberian molecularly characterized medulloblastomas using the Illumina TruSight Tumor 15 panel. We classified the variants based on their clinical impact and oncogenicity.

Moreover, the lethal effect of EO and fenchone was evaluated against Anisops bouvieri, Diplonychus indicus, Danio rerio, and Paracheirodon axelrodi. The EO and fenchone (5 to 25 µg/mL) showed larvicidal activity (LC from 16.

Nowadays, essential oils (EOs) exhibiting larvicidal activity, such as those derived from Piper alatipetiolatum, provide a promising alternative for vector control, including Culex species. This study aimed to investigate the larvicidal activity and the oxidative stress indicators of the EO from P.

Ninety implant and abutment (IA) sets were used in the present study, divided into three groups (n = 30 samples per group): Group A, Ideale solid straight abutment (one piece) without index; Group B, Ideale abutment with an angle of 30-degree (two pieces) without index; Group C, Ideale abutment with an angle of 30-degree (two pieces) with index. The abutment stability quotient (ASQ) values, detorque value and rotation angle were measured before and after the cycling load.

Using the unique principle and performance advantages of chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA), an ADPN-CLIA method with high sensitivity, high specificity and wide detection range was established based on the principle of two-steps method of sandwich-type, with the magnetic particles (MPs) as the solid phase carrier and acridinium ester (AE) as the chemiluminescence reaction system. The selection of the main raw materials required, the preparation conditions of MPs-coated antibodies, the methods of AE-labeled antibodies, sample requirements and reaction modes were optimized and evaluated.

However, the knowledge of the diversity of this group of fungi is still insufficient, as well as their biological and enzymatic activities. Thus, the objective of this work is to describe the occurrence, biological and enzymatic activities of Agaricomycetes from the Brazilian Amazon.

Despite multiple clinical trials, no improvement in outcome has occurred in decades. There is an urgent need to better understand resistant and metastatic disease and to generate models from relapsed tumors.

Using anal and penile swab specimens from a cohort study of men who have sex with men (MSM) in Rwanda, we compared high-risk HPV (hrHPV) detection by AmpFire done at two laboratories, one at University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and the other Rwanda Military Hospital, and well-validated MY09/11-based assay done at UCSF.
Methods: Anal and penile specimens collected from 338 MSM from March 2016 to September 2016 were tested for high-risk HPV genotypes (hrHPV) by MY09/11, AmpFire UCSF and AmpFire RMH.

One of the factors that limit ruminant production in the semiarid region is the lack of roughage in the dry season. The management of forage plants adapted to edaphoclimatic conditions is a strategy to improve animal production. This study was conducted to examine the effects of biomass sorghum silage (BSS; Sorghum bicolor (L.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 308 community-dwelling older adults was conducted. The outcome was the presence of depressive symptoms (≥6 points on the Geriatric Depression Scale-15).
Introduction: More than half of people living with HIV in the US are 50+ years old. Despite the benefits of antiretroviral therapy, older individuals with HIV are at higher risk for illnesses than their HIV-negative counterparts. Anal cancer, anal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL), and anal HPV-16 infection occur most frequently among men who have sex with men living with HIV (MSMLWH).

In Latin America and the Caribbean, nearly 60,000 new cases of cervical cancer and another 7,000 HPV-associated cancers are diagnosed annually.
Areas Covered: HPV vaccination combined with comprehensive cervical cancer control programmingis paving the way for eliminating cervical cancer as a major public health problem and drastically reducing other HPV-associated diseases.
The comparative analysis of the internal and external male genitalia of the Abracrini grasshoppers was conducted, including representatives of the type species of the genera, specimens compared with the same or more representative specimens of the genus, and bibliography data. We include schematic illustrations that point to the morphological differences between the genitalia, based on subgenital plate, furculae, epiproct, cerci, ectophallic sheath, aedeagal valves, expansion of gonopore and epiphallus. A dichotomous key to the 21 Abracrini genera was presented.

Combined stress studies are very limited in rice partly due to the difficulty in creating heat stress on a larger scale. Here, 24 cultivars with specific stress adaptive traits were phenotyped for spikelet sterility under combined stress using the natural summer temperatures and open drought phenotyping facility, simulating the field conditions.

Methods: We conducted a population-based study using routine records of the Live Births Information System in Brazil from January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2017. We calculated the relative size of each Robson group; the caesarean section rate; and the contribution to the overall caesarean section rate.
