To minimize the environmental impact of sea salt production and promote agricultural sustainability, studies on the reuse of marine gypsum have piqued interest in semi-arid regions. This study aimed to (a) verify the characteristics of marine gypsum, (b) analyze its agronomic potential for replacing agricultural gypsum as a nutrient source in acidic sandy soils, and (c) assess its effectiveness in recreating sodic soils. The study comprised two experiments: acidic sandy soil (Red Latosol) and sodic clayey soil (Fluvic Neosol).

Veterinary palliative care consists of end-of-life care of companion animals suffering from terminal or life-limiting diseases. Despite the growing need for veterinary palliative care, little research has been conducted on this topic. This perspective intends to provide an overview of the existing concerns and identify knowledge gaps to motivate further research.

An economic assessment of alternative antimicrobial use scenarios on pig farms.

This paper explores the theoretical economic outcome of management changes that result in different levels of antimicrobial use (AMU) in two types of UK pig farm. A static farm economic pig production model (FEPM) was used on a representative 'Top-third' most profitable farm and a representative 'Mid-range' profitable farm. Three AMU theoretical management scenarios were investigated; (a) management changes leading to a reduction of AMU by 35% (AMU35); (b) more extensive management changes leading to a reduction of AMU by 95% (AMU95); and (c) implementing depopulation of the herd (AMU Depop).

Somatic mutational profiling and clinical impact of driver genes in Latin-Iberian medulloblastomas: Towards precision medicine.

Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most prevalent malignant brain tumor in children, known for its heterogeneity and treatment-associated toxicity, and there is a critical need for new therapeutic targets. We analyzed the somatic mutation profile of 15 driver genes in 69 Latin-Iberian molecularly characterized medulloblastomas using the Illumina TruSight Tumor 15 panel. The present study compared three different implant and abutment sets of type Morse taper (MT) connection, with- and without-index, were analyzed regarding their mechanical behavior without and with cyclic load application simulating the masticatory function. The selection of the main raw materials required, the preparation conditions of MPs-coated antibodies, the methods of AE-labeled antibodies, sample requirements and reaction modes were optimized and evaluated.

Comparison of AmpFire and MY09/11 assays for HPV genotyping in anogenital specimen of Rwandan men who have sex with men.

Introduction: The AmpFire HPV genotyping Assay (Atila Biosystems, Mountain View, CA, USA) is a new test for which there are few data regarding its analytic performance and reliability. Using anal and penile swab specimens from a cohort study of men who have sex with men (MSM) in Rwanda, we compared high-risk HPV (hrHPV) detection by AmpFire done at two laboratories, one at University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and the other Rwanda Military Hospital, and well-validated MY09/11-based assay done at UCSF.

The comparative analysis of the internal and external male genitalia of the Abracrini grasshoppers was conducted, including representatives of the type species of the genera, specimens compared with the same or more representative specimens of the genus, and bibliography data. We include schematic illustrations that point to the morphological differences between the genitalia, based on subgenital plate, furculae, epiproct, cerci, ectophallic sheath, aedeagal valves, expansion of gonopore and epiphallus. Targeted Phytohormone Profiling Identifies Potential Regulators of Spikelet Sterility in Rice under Combined Drought and Heat Stress.

Rice cultivated under rainfed or semi-irrigated ecosystems is frequently exposed to a combination of drought and heat stress. As a sensitive crop at the reproductive stage, exposure to combined drought and heat stress will have a deleterious effect on yield. In this study, two rice cultivars with contrasting spikelet sterility, AVT2-5315 (low sterility) and AC35027 (high sterility), under combined stress were selected for physiological characterization and phytohormonal profiling at anthesis.

Using the Robson classification to assess caesarean section rates in Brazil: an observational study of more than 24 million births from 2011 to 2017.

Background: Applying the Robson classification to all births in Brazil, the objectives of our study were to estimate the rates of caesarean section delivery, assess the extent to which caesarean sections were clinically indicated, and identify variation across socioeconomic groups.

Methods: We conducted a population-based study using routine records of the Live Births Information System in Brazil from January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2017. We calculated the relative size of each Robson group; the caesarean section rate; and the contribution to the overall caesarean section rate.
