The authors quantify the work load nurses have, analyzing the relationship between the level of treatment planned and the operative level by means of a prospective study carried out over a three month period at the Anesthesia and Reanimation Unit at the Clinical University Hospital in Santiago de Compostela; this study had a total of 233 patients. The authors observed that the work load for nurses lie above the recommended values and there exists a difference between the planned treatment level and the operative treatment level.
