Italian Multicenter Study on Accuracy of F-FDG PET/CT in Assessing Bone Marrow Involvement in Pediatric Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Introduction: The present study investigated the utility of fluorine-18 (F) fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose (F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in assessing bone marrow involvement (BMI) compared with bone marrow biopsy (BMB) in newly diagnosed pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma (HL).

Patients And Methods: A total of 224 pediatric patients with HL underwent F-FDG PET/CT at staging. BMB or follow-up imaging was used as the standard of reference for the evaluation of BMI.

Metastatic malignant struma ovarii with coexistence of Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

Unlabelled: Struma ovarii is a rare ovarian teratoma characterized by the presence of thyroid tissue as the major component. Malignant transformation of the thyroidal component (malignant struma ovarii) has been reported in approximately 5% of struma ovarii. The management and follow-up of this unusual disease remain controversial.

Potential Usefulness of 99mTc-DMSA for Radio-Guided Surgery in Pediatric Renal Dysplasia.

We report a case of an ectopic/hypoplastic kidney removed by radio-guided surgery. A 7-year-old girl, with a history of vaginal drainage of urine, underwent renal scintigraphy with Tc-DMSA. SPECT/CT revealed a focal uptake in the pelvis, corresponding to hypoplastic kidney as confirmed by MRI.

Surgical approaches to solitary parathyroid adenoma: state of the art. Our early experience with intraoperative parathyroid hormone measurement.

We report our early experience with focused radioguided parathyroidectomy with intraoperative parathyroid hormone measurement in patients affected by primary hyperparathyroidism. Over a period of 2 months we performed 4 consecutive focused parathyroidectomies with intraoperative parathyroid hormone measurement, 3 of which radioguided. All patients had a preoperative localization of single gland disease by sestamibi scanning and/or ultrasound.
