Series of Protonated Nitrogen Bases with a Weakly Coordinating Counteranion: Observation of the N-H Spin-Spin Coupling.

Chile is a country where teledermatology has been growing exponentially since the implementation of a single national asynchronous teledermatology platform for the public system in December 2018. To ensure the quality of care in teledermatology systems, it is crucial to evaluate the fulfillment of basic specifiers such as ICD-Diagnosis, therapeutic suggestions, and diagnostic suggestions, among others. This article aims to evaluate the teledermatology system of the Chilean public health service by analyzing 243 randomly extracted consultations, representative of the 20,716 electronic consultations performed during 2020.

Community Mobilization is Associated with HIV Testing Behaviors and Their Psychosocial Antecedents Among Zambian Adults: Results from a Population-Based Study.

Community mobilization (CM) is a vital yet under-explored avenue for increasing HIV testing in generalized HIV epidemic settings. Using multi-stage cluster sampling, a population-based sample of 3535 Zambian adults (mean age: 28 years, 50% women) were recruited from 14 districts to complete a household survey. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to re-validate a 23-item, 5-factor CM scale.

Genome Sequences of 408 SARS-CoV-2 Strains Obtained from Nasopharyngeal Swabs in La Araucanía Region, Southern Chile.

Here, we announce the genome sequences of 408 strains of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) obtained from nasopharyngeal swabs in the Araucanía Region, Southern Chile. The genomes obtained are valuable to expand the availability of useful genomic data for future epidemiological studies of SARS-CoV-2 in Chile and worldwide.

Background: Early adverse stress is a risk factor for the appearance of mental health ailments during adulthood.

Aim: To systematically review treatment outcomes on mental health symptoms and functional domains, and of interventions aimed at treating adults with depressive disorders and early adverse stress (EAS).

Material And Methods: Systematic review and meta-analysis including experimental and quasi-experimental published studies indexed in the CINAHL, EMBASE, PubMed, and Web of Science databases, which explored the effectiveness of treatment interventions for depressive disorders in adults exposed to EAS.

Reaching ambitious voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) coverage targets requires a deeper understanding of the multifaceted processes shaping men's willingness to access VMMC. Guided by the Ideation Model for Health Communication, this population-based study identifies correlates of Zambian men's future VMMC intentions. Multistage cluster sampling was used to identify households with adult men in 14 districts.

[Remarks on the "Dignified death and palliative care" bill].

The Chilean House of Representatives is discussing the bill on "Dignified death and palliative care", which regulates the so-called medical assistance in dying or euthanasia. This paper will critically analyze the different aspects of the bill, particularly concerning four main dimensions, namely, the patient's condition at the time of requesting euthanasia; the doctor-patient relationship and respect for the autonomy of both parties; the idea of medicine involved in it; and the possible therapeutic alternatives to euthanasia. This critical analysis raises the need to discuss in more depth a project that has to do with such important decisions about our lives and that implies a radical change in the way of thinking and practicing medicine.

Protonation of the oxo-bridged heme/copper assemblies: Modeling the oxidized state of the cytochrome c oxidase active site.

In this study on model compounds for the resting oxidized state of the iron‑copper binuclear center in cytochrome c oxidase (CcO), we describe the synthesis of a new μ-oxo-heme/Cu complex, [(TPP)Fe-O-Cu(tmpa)][B(CF)] (2) {TPP: tetraphenyl porphyrinate(2-); TMPA: tris(2-pyridylmethylamine)}, as well as two protonation events for three μ-oxo-heme/Cu complexes with varying peripheral substituents on the heme site. The addition of increasing amounts of strong acid to these μ-oxo-heme/Cu systems successively led to the generation of the corresponding μ-hydroxo, μ-aquo, and the dissociated complexes. The heme/Cu assemblies bridged through a water ligand are reported here for the first time and the H NMR and F NMR spectral properties are consistent with antiferromagnetically coupled high-spin iron(III) and copper(II) centers.

Synthetic, spectroscopic, structural, and electrochemical investigations of ferricenium derivatives with weakly coordinating anions: ion pairing, substituent, and solvent effects.

A facile and effective strategy for the preparation of a series of ferricenium complexes bearing either electron-donating or electron-withdrawing substituents with weakly coordinating anions such as [B(C6F5)4]- or SbF6- is reported. These systems were thoroughly investigated for their ground state electronic structures in both solution and solid states using infrared (IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopies as well as single crystal X-ray crystallography and electrochemical measurements. The X-ray structures of the six electron-deficient ferricenium derivatives are of particular interest as only a handful (∼5) of such derivatives have been structurally characterized to date.
